It seems that most of the developers nowadays are competing on whose title will take more time to release with even less content than expected..
I miss the era of Dreams of desire where you would get monthly releases with both quality and quantity and people would still complain, little did they know that a few years later things would only get worse...
Yes, it was cool when we got updates once a month, but...
Graphics in games were much more primitive, rendering was faster. The plots were generally primitive, most of the games were good only for clicking to the sex scenes and jerking off to it. And the updates weren't big, they usually took half an hour, an hour at the most.
Now the players requirements have grown a lot, developers such as DrPinkCake have raised the bar quality and for the main VN updates are very big.
And the visual quality in them is not inferior to AAA games. Of course, Eve delayed this update a lot, despite the fact that it will be very large. Only half of the game, Ian's part is the size of Episode 5. I think by her standards the development speed of such an episode should not exceed 5 months, that is, it should have been released a month ago, but 6 months have already passed since the last update and I think we will wait until at least the end of November under the best scenario. I think she has serious problems with inspiration and management, especially after burnout. But now that she's hired an outsourcer, hopefully things are going better.

DPC has indeed raised the bar but unfortunately noone has followed, they've just adapted the dev cycle scheduele without uping their game. He's the only dev I know of that can justify a 6-8 month dev cycle and back it up contentwise. It's a sad state of affairs nowdays.

Very generous of you to count the pointless "rework" release that didn't improve anything from 6 months ago as a real release. As far as I'm concerned this game havn't had an update since Nov -21..

That being said EK is far from any of the worst devs out there, when she releases something it's usually worth playing, which is not true for at least 90% of the devs we see here..

So on October 25th, 2023...

Of course by then chapter 10 will be out, probably chapter 11 as well, maybe chapter 12 even? No point speculating though (there's already enough of that in this thread).
Yes. Eva can hopefully release Chapter 11 in those 9 months between Chapter 10 is released in January of 2023.

About the unnecessary "remaster" update, this is not entirely true. She did this because she always listens to the opinion of her audience. Whether it's good or bad depends on the situation, but I think that it's not good to always follow the lead of the audience. It is quite possible that her audience in the discord gave recommendations for correcting some points in the plot, at the same time she improved the visuals. But I will not consider this update empty. And I, like you, are unhappy that Episode 10 dragged on for so long, but I'm not the kind of audience that will shame Eva

Honestly, the only character I am even remotely interested in is Cindy. Everything else is just a cliche copy paste from other games of the genre. Whole Lena story is 99% copy of the previous game of the dev.

I would argue that the visuals weren't improved, rather the opposite but that's obv very subjective..

Stop being disingenuous. The remaster improves key aspects of the game. The ones I could recall right away are:
  • Ian and Lena's first meeting has more weight and been expanded to give more context for further interactions
  • Wade's motivation is laid out and developed more instead of appearing out of nowhere
  • Artwork improvements like the Danny photoshoots
  • Ian's breakup pains him much more and lasts longer instead of only a chapter or so, conveying his struggle in dating again better
  • Stan is way more developed and given more interaction with Lena
Do I wish the remaster shouldn't take as long as it is to complete? Yes.
Do I wish all that time can be spent on making the dialogues more natural and less stiff? Absolutely.
But saying the remaster didn't improve anything is plain slander.

Not slander, opinion. There's a not so subtle difference. I stand firm that the things you pointed out were indeed made, they were just not improvements, just wasted time..

Hold up, if Ian doesn't actively pursue Lena, does he even know about her passion in music/guitar? Because this scene is really jarring if he doesn't go to the music store with Lena.

How? 2 guys randomly meet outside a nightclub for 10 minutes, and then go their separate ways. This adds literally nothing, no weight or backstory or anything.
Wade's motivation is laid out and developed more instead of appearing out of nowhere
Its a downgrade for me. In the past versions Wade was an attractive guy who let himself go mush in the daily grind of life. Now, he's just another stereotypical loser without a job.
Ian's breakup pains him much more and lasts longer instead of only a chapter or so, conveying his struggle in dating again better
IDK, I did not notice this change at all. But I'll take your word forit.
Stan is way more developed and given more interaction with Lena
He went from a total creep to not a total creep. Yay, I guess , but its not like its a groundbreaking change, he is still the least interesting character in the game.

I will die on this hill, a rework was not needed at all, especially in mid game. EK apparently changed 30% of the game, yet the story is almost unchanged. I dont think the """improvements""" themselves will rope in new new patrons, her [atron count is virtually the same before and after the remaster.

It's more impactful than just chatting at a café randomly. Plus, Ian immediately knew than Lena had relationship trouble, something he himself painfully experienced. That's why the meeting was so memorable to Ian, and he could relate to her strongly.

Vanilla Wade is actually a jobless loser who plays vidya all day without purpose lmao. Now, Remastered Wade is given a purpose since the beginning; becoming a fighting game champion. I've been following the day in life of the FGC community and its pro players, so Wade's grind is relatable and respectable to me. What's funny is Cindy becomes more of a cunt because of this lmao.

Ian has a choice to look at Gillian's photos at Chapter 3. The fact that the option exists adds a lot of weight to his breakup. It was always weird to me that Gillian just stops becoming a problem after Chapter 2.
He went from a total creep to not a total creep. Yay, I guess , but its not like its a groundbreaking change, he is still the least interesting character in the game.
He's more of a fleshed-out character now than just a one-note creepy simp. Whether you like him or not is irrelevant, the remaster does him solid.

While it's not absolutely needed, it's still a much welcomed QoL changes that make the experience better and more cohesive. It's not perfect, judging from the still wooden dialogues and plot holes (like I just posted before), but the game becomes a better package than the Vanilla version. I, and many others, do wished that it didn't take so long to develop.

Like I said, it is what it is.

It was the biggest waste of time known to man. Truly, no one asked for this "remaster", if we even wanna call it that. The OG Prologue was completely fine and worked better than this "new" one that makes Ian out to be a possible creep/awkward as fuck. Stans "update" didn't do jack fuck, other than take out his pervy spying, and even then he is still a awkward creep that just so happens to be into photography. Not to mention the whole model with him and Lena's teasing him is super fucking cringe. And of course lets not forget the Bar Scene now in which instead of hanging out with Axel, which again, was perfectly fine, lets replace that with you forceable having to hang out with your true fuckwit wannabe player pencildick bro and him not taking a fucking hint that Ivy isn't interested and not all girls wanna fuck you bro. Oh and not only that, lets remake that scene in regards to Ian and Ivy having a brief moment in with the OOG was her giving him a kiss on the cheek, to be then replaced with a little bit of flirting, TO NOW be replaced with Ian not even really getting a chance to talk to her as fuckwit Jeremy and Axel have to take the bulk of attention.

And of course, nine chapters in and we still have ZERO FUCKING CONTENT with Ivy other than fucking fan service. No Ian and Ivy content whatsofuckingever, Lena gets to make out with her a little bit and maybe a tiddy lick and half of a possible threesome with Holly. At this point I made the promise to myself to give Eva a chance to give Ian and Ivy a shot, but considering how she is failing that endevour by kicking the can down the road more in place of questionable writing and story, not to mention repeatedly rewarding Jeremy over and over again for his cheating and not once bringing up him being caught and having him talk to Louise about their relationship if they still together, I have doubts.

In short, Eva should actually spend more time writing things more throughly and go with a build time of 5-6 months instead of this forced build that she does of 3-4 months. Maybe the game would be better along with the story, and maybe the Holly-Ian-Lena relationship would be better thought out and branched instead of the shit show of how it is handled as of this build.
