VN - Ren'Py - Our Red String [Ch. 12 Full] [Eva Kiss]

Having played Eva's previous game and absolutely loving it, I had to try this one. I admit that knowing it has multiple protagonists did put me off a bit, I prefer to play female only.

The art style is definitely a step up and looks lovely. Lena, the main female protagonist looks pretty hot from the start and is actually working as a nude model at a gallery as well as a cafe and restaurant waitress. She has a potential LI called Robert who is a co-worker at the restaurant and he tries hard to get with Lena. I found him to be an asshole and kept it professional.

I liked Lena getting intimate with her needy goth housemate Louise.
Lena can be the domme in that relationship and it can get pretty steamy between them.

Eva has setup this VN so that both protagonists can date each other, but I never tried that. I made Lena a lesbian and Ian - the other protag, go after his friends girlfriend Cindy just for the drama..

I found Ian's friends quite irritating to be honest. The lazy one who rents a room to Ian especially, all he does is whine. Even Wade is a bit of a dick to be honest.

The story has plenty of drama unfolding so far and the usual great choice of choices/consequences that Eva does so well. It has a lot of potential.

Overall I can totally recommend this for fans and people new to Eva's games. It's a very enjoyable slice of drama that could give Love Island a run for it's money

Go ahead and give it a shot.

I've been following developer EvaKiss since her first Good Girl Gone Bad game. This game opened the world of indie porn novels for me. The concept of GGGB was refreshing - a girl in the role of MC, a non-linear plot and a morale system that changes with our choices. It was cool and fresh.
The second game, Our Red String, was a huge jump in quality. I would call it how to compare GTAIII and GTA IV. The game has become deeper, more thoughtful and more difficult. The graphics look like a real Next-gen compared to GGGB, the role-playing system has become more diverse.
The game tells the story of two main characters, the guy Ian and the girl Lena. Ian is an aspiring writer in his late 20s working for a crappy journalism outlet with a crappy boss. A bit of an introvert. Lena is a beautiful young girl after breaking up with an abusive boyfriend, a fashion model and a musician working as a waitress. Unlike Ashley at the beginning of the game, she is not as shy.

The player will decide their fate, decide whether to connect the two main characters or not. This is what the name of the game tells us. Playing as two main characters with separate story arcs opens up huge possibilities for a branching scenario. This increases the replay value, makes you ask the question “what will happen if I do this?” and click the "start a new game" button. The possibilities are huge. Several dozen characters, they feel like ordinary living people, and not a set of stereotypes. This makes the game world more saturated and lively. The plot is captivating, this is an adventure game about human destinies and the path to success. Eva uses the scripting mechanism to end the episode at the most interesting place, which makes you look forward to the next one.

There is a lot of sex in the game and kinks for every taste - as before in GGGB, depravity is gradually increasing with each new episode. You want vanilla, hardcore, BBC fetishes, a hint of NTR - it's all there. Optional, you decide. Knowing the perverted mind of Eva - it will be even more fun. The scenes are hot and beautifully drawn. I have already said that the game has top graphics, but it's even more pleasant that it's all handmade - the game has 2D drawing. Eva is a very talented artist.

The perk system has evolved and become more serious. The “good-bad” system was replaced by a perk leveling system that swings in dialogues, a certain level of skills opens key dialogues:
Wits - solves the problem in a scientific way and a reasonable approach
Charisma is everything. Oratory skills are always appreciated.
Athletics - the game has sports and fights
Lust is important for sex scenes, the higher it is, the more perverted and uninhibited your character is.
These four characteristics define your personality, there are even clothes for each type. Designed for the little things!
Another important skill is Will, which is very rare and hard to get. Don't waste. Also in the game there is a system of money, as in the previous one, it seems that it has not undergone any changes.

The result is a complex, thoughtful and deep game, just the way I like it. I cannot rate below 5 stars. Our Red String is in my top 3 favorite games, it's almost a AAA VN game. Why almost? Because there is only one AAA porn game. Good luck with the project EvaKiss and I hope it doesn't suffer the fate of many games that haven't been completed yet. The only drawbacks to the game are that it suffers because of its size: two MCs and a non-linear plot make it bigger and more difficult with each episode. Increasing development time and requiring a lot more creative complexity by piecing together a growing script. I hope everything ends well.

This has to be the best game of this genre I've played so far. Writing is the best part of it and all the characters are there for a reason. Having played its predecessor (Good Girl Gone Bad), I see ORS as an improvement over the classic title. This game definitely has replay value and I'm looking forward to the finished version. Only downsides I can think of is the lack of more in depth visual customisation of the MC, but this isn't a big deal with the rest of the VN considered.

You know how bad the writing is in games ? Not just in VNs or indie games, but also big successful games sometimes have awful writing. This game is an exception.
The writing and story are so good I didn't skip a line. The overall quality of the game is phenomenal.
I'd say one of a kind if the author didn't have another game of the same quality.

The author is a champion. No doubt that this is one of the best games ever seen! The graphics are also beautiful, sustainable. The story is full of sub -trams, well developed and the points technique, although not innovative is well made.

As far as I'm concerned, this is the gold standard of the art form. Solid writing, excellent artwork, interesting and relatable charecters (I'm probably Perry more than I want to admit), H scenes for the fun, romance for the soul. Good music and sound effects. Really excited to see how it wraps.

The only thing I wish is that the MCs' wardrobe was used more, but this is such a small gripe, it's vastly outweighed by anything else. Eva Kiss is killing it.

This game has really a very beautyfull style and also the story and choices are very well written and implemented. All the characters have a very good story and the kinky scenes are also very passionatley done.
I wonder why not more Devs use this beutyful Anime Style instead of high polished Renders for their games. The only thing i had to get used to is that u cant scroll back after a decission to try out another decission quickly but i just saved before so i cant make a big complain out of it.
This game is really a very good benchmark with regards to story, choices and style.

I really enjoyed this game so far and loved that it’s not one where the main character can have everyone. It’s a good story with maybe a cliche villain. The art is phenomenal and there we’re definitely some things I did not see coming. The writing is amazing and certainly draws you to some characters well making you despise others. I’m excited to see where this goes and hope for some good happy endings for all or most lol.

A very interesting story. I really can't wait to see the next part of it. I huge organizational and technical improvement from the previews game. The designs are improved and have a unique esthetic. I hope the developer keeps up the good work, I want to actually contribute to make this her main job!

Game is awesome, the two characetr dynamic is super fun and makes for interesting choices and connections. The male mc looks like a dweeb but lena is super hot! Dialogue is great and does not rush but also does not take its sweet time. perfect balanced. Also the kinky scenes are top-notch but comparable to most other high quality vns tbh.

Holy goddamn Eva Kiss never disappoints. The art style is instantly recognisable and the story, as always, feels so real. I think what sets it apart from other games is the sheer number of 'flavour' dialogue choices that maybe don't affect the game so much but add humanity to the whole thing.
Not generally a fan of poems, but they were absolutely fantastic in this: "Heart shut, the fence is up. The lock is getting rusty". I can't believe how good this one line is. I'm mad that somebody else wrote it.
I'm actually just playing for the story at this point, though the sex scenes are also some of the best I've seen.

What a great game this is. Fantastic artwork, great sex scenes, excellent characters that you can actually get attached to, a neat slice-of-life story, and funky music to go with it all.

Both MCs are awesome, and I've frankly just found myself immensely enjoying their relationship with each other. Not only is it romantic, but also extremely lewd (Fuck yes to great anal sex scenes).

Even more astoundingly, however: this is unironically one of the best RPGs in modern times, in the sense that you build up certain stats that unlock abilities further down the line. It feels like different choices really lead to different outcomes, and the handing-out of the skill points never feels unfair/arbitrary.

Amazing game, can't wait for it to be finished!

You know how there are plot driven stories and character driven stories? This is very much a character driven story. I'm not a huge fan of these in general because they are usually basic dating sims with paper thin characters, but I come across the occasional gems like this with a lot of depth to the characters and their interactions.

If I talk about everything good about this game, it will become overly long. I just want to touch on the few things that really stand out in Eva Kiss' games.

The strongest skillset for this dev in my opinion is the coding. This is something that isn't clearly visible to players, but for someone like me who often looks through the script file, you can't help but admire the level of dedication in creating a coherent and immersive experience based on the choices. The amount of variations and conditionals are astronomical. People familiar with GGGB would know what to expect already. Unfortunately, the dual protagonist nature presents much more complexity to the equation. We do occasionally see some immersion breaking characterizations, something that was exceedingly rare in GGGB.

The other standout aspect is, of course, the writing. Almost all the characters have layers to them. There is quite a lot of depth to even the traditionally tropey personas if you pay attention. All characters are well realized and believable as individuals that could exist in real life, more or less. They each have their strengths and weaknesses. Most of them have admirable qualities and character flaws to varying degrees. We have a much more grounded story compared to GGGB, which could admittedly be a negative for some players expecting a standard corruption story.

Still, there is so much to work with here for corruption fans. To me, the stakes are very much higher than a tropey corruption game because it seems so much more realistic. You are the architect of your own playthrough, and there is a framework that enables many different themes while keeping everything believable (for the most part). NTR story with a faithful male MC and cheating girlfriend? Yup. Man whore male MC with a loyal girlfriend? Yea. Love triangles? Sure. Classic romance and perseverance through hard times? Yup. Free for all fuck buddies? Yup. No real finesse in the run and just bang everything as both MCs? Yea you can do that too.

As for the sex scenes. It's no surprise that the scene writing is damn fappable. GGGB proved that already. The art has improved considerably from the previous game in that it doesn't look like a pure trace art anymore.

There you have it. There is something here for everyone, but people looking for a more straightforward corruption story like the previous game might be disappointed.

The design of this game is a step up from Good Girl Gone Bad in every way. Higher quality art, more complex writing and narrative branching, multiple stat mechanics. Some simple animations have even been added which addresses my only real complaint about Eva Kiss's previous game. The game is still in progress (nine chapters so far) but it's pretty hefty already. I've played through it twice thanks to the inclusion of a built-in cheat mode so no choices are locked out due to skill numbers. There's no grind in this game; developing skills happens naturally through your decisions throughout the story. I wish there was more Cindy because she's so hot, but all the women are good choices to follow. Another home run from Eva Kiss!

Amazing art, meaningful choices and lot of paths to explore with great replayability. No random sex scenes and flat, 2D characters with idiotic conversations, which is the annoyance of lot of the games - even good ones.

Eva Kiss is two-for-two so far, knocking it out of the park with the infamous Good Girl Gone Bad and now with Our Red String.
This game surpasses basically any h game I've played up to this point, it's hard to even compare it to them. Not to mention the game's not even done.
Pros:
+ Art style is incredible, you can tell Eva Kiss has been improving on their skills and it shows with this project
+ Story has many choices and will have tons of content to replay. Just from chapter 9 alone, I could replay the story 4 or 5 times. I probably will as well.
+ Characters are actually interesting and believable, and dialogue is genuinely interesting and changes even with the slightly different choices you can make.
+ Disliked kinks/fetishes can be avoided entirely. Personally, a problem I have with most H games is unavoidable anal (I know it's weird but it's a turn off for me), and this game seems to give you full control over that, as well as things such as ntr and lesbian.
+ The idea of switching between 2 characters isn't new, but this is the only game I know that has it almost perfect.
+++ There isn't any annoying ads or things locked behind a paywall. Eva Kiss will be the first ever creator I'm going to sub to on patreon for this reason. They're humble and just make quality games.
Cons:
- In very small instances, the game will bug out in typical Ren'Py fashion, specifically in gallery mode, but it's very limited and I'm sure it will be fixed.
Suggestions:

• The only thing I can suggest to Eva Kiss is to potentially add more sfx to the sex scenes. The moans and other sounds are great, but I just wish they weren't limited to be heard during one dialogue box, but instead, was continuous throughout the scene. Within reason of course.

Couldn't recommend this game enough, it's accessible, open to many people with many tastes, and the creator is worth supporting.

Completed my first full play through up to the end of Chapter 9 and thought the game was really really addictive engaging. This is the first game I have played where you switch protagonists at various points (weekly). Making decisions with equal consequence for both Ian and Lena, who find their paths converging having lived separate but in many ways similar pasts.

I found myself having empathy and whilst I tend to play these games with a slightly devilish mindset, I almost instinctively tended towards those decisions that were to their long term benefit.

A degree of 'fate' is always a reality in this genre of game but there were more than enough choice to genuinely shape each characters path and I will probably replay the game from an early save point to see how much I can divert the MC's after a second play through. The writing and characterisation is first class. The characters are real and relatable for me.

The males more diverse in terms of age and shape, the women somewhat more homogeneous in that they are all slim or relatively slim and pretty (which is how I like it). However the character personalities covered a fairly broad spectrum, from energetic and out going to introverted and subdued. Equally there are a fair share of decent and shady characters, with decisions that will bring those characters closer to you, or create distance should you feel suitably repulsed by them.
In my first play through I had both characters reach points where their life was starting to change and it will be interesting to see how Eva Kiss takes their respective stories and develops them. I certainly hope, like I have read elsewhere that there are 20 or more chapters planned.
I particularly liked Lena's pathway and I'm genuinely excited to see how the story develops for her. That said, I found directing Ian fun and engaging, in slightly different ways but enjoyable nonetheless.

If you haven't played it, you should. Our Red String is definitely in a top list of 5 games currently in development. I didn't expect it to be quite that good, but it most certainly is. Loved it!
