It's 'just' a bit of internal monologue that doesn't set any new variables or anything, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. No reason to assume it'll affect happenings further on in the game.

It's because Eva divided Chapter 12 update in 4 parts.
Prologue - Ian
Part 1 - Ian
Part 2 - Lena
Epilogue - Lena
I guess that basically means no Ian POV for the rest of the year.
Decided to make an updated walkthrough for the MMA tournament and complete fighter build.
Choices you want to make from chapter 1:
Take extra sparring with Jeremy
Accept Wen's offer to learn move
Optional: For first Robert fight pick kick to win
Go to gym every opportunity you get
When offered more lessons by Wen accept
Optional: Do not smoke weed. Choose this if you plan to go with Holly on the book signing trip. (If have a will point will let you take additional task plus going to the gym in chapter 7)
Choose to stick to kickboxing when asked to choose
Optional: For second Robert fight pick; guard up>evade>kick>guard up>evade>punch to win
Accept when asked to register for tournament
If you have done everything correctly up to this point, you will get this screen
For this guide focus on mastering striking (choose this even if you want to be a grappling specialist).
Tournament day: First action; Guard up, Second action; Guard up>Kick.
For third action sequence will be completely rng. I will show every scenario now as well as give the choices to pick:
For fourth round; Provoke>Grapple>Trip him>Secure position> Choke him> Squeeze. End of first round.

I had 4 polished routes before I checked this newest update and here are some of my opinions:
- Ian x Holly priority, try to corrupt her where possible, flirt with other girls or choose sexy options when possible, Lena is bad and tries tocorrupt Holly too
;I was glad that Holly starts to become sexier, but wish she didn't refuse at least flirting with other guys (she denied Mark if i remember) and would be nice to see her texting on beach instead of reading a book. Sex scenes with her are nice, but she doesn't always wanna fuck and it seems there is some struggle in establishing relationship between Ian x Holly and I feel that blocks some possible extra sex? I can't remember if I chose casual relationship or full commitment tho, I maybe have chosen casual in hopes Holly would be more adventurous, but Ian always chose her wherever possible it's not free for all manslut.
- Ian x Cindy cheats priority, but Ian pretty much screws everything that moves while trying to save Cindy x Wade relationship
;This was just dry, basic skeleton of the update, but Emma made it somewhat fun at least. I got my hopes up whenever a text came or Ian checked social media, but it was just Lena or Ivy or Louise (now Louise part was incredibly hot, I want something more serious with her in the future).
- Ian x Allison priority, there was threesome with Jeremy and I encouraged to repeat it, Ian x Jeremy are good friends
;Same as with Cindy, just dry apart from the basics you pretty much get on every route except if you outright dodged any interaction with Emma/Holly. A text from Allison or Jeremy would be awesome, they are all alone in the city and they know it would be fine to have some fun
- Ian x Lena true couple, Ian is loyal, doesn't even flirt, smart and confronts friends when needed instead of being just a yesman or avoiding conflict, Lena cheats whenever possible and they together with Ian are exploring dirty talk in bed about Lena's past or fantasies about other men and the like
;Now this was a little bit more interesting, but still I feel like some small details would elevate this update not just in this route. It seems to me there might be divide in this route - Lena keeps Ian clueless (to best of her ability, Ian already has some info getting to him) or Lena confesses and Ian is okay with it (at least if I as player have any say in it hehe). I hope Ian's friend circle does not outcast him if he decides to have open relationship with Lena or tolerate her cheating despite people knowing. Heart (cock) wants what it wants
Overall update has a strong point of variations and it looks really beautiful, like one devlog said the sex scenes look really really good in this update. Also outfits are gorgeous BUT one huge flaw is not enough backside shown!! The mod I was using for path guiding is not updated yet so I can't comment on wether this is a great buildup for something in future, but I have a feeling a lot of choices this update will carry weight. Then again, I felt like that about Cindy cheating buildup and it ended up with separation (which doesn't look promising as to them getting back despite Ian's best efforts besides the shagging Cindy part lol). For me the biggest missing part was lack of texts from various people or even social media browsing. There are plenty of things I am looking forward to and hope will be explored. No other game has this complex yet fluent web weaved together with loveable characters who have actual personalities and depth and look gorgeous and unique as a bonus.

I think i've started an open relationship with lena through the "experiment" option but the characters seem to treat it like a closed relationship. Lena dumped everyone and I can't accept a threesome with Allison. Is this how the open relationship is supposed to go or did I fuck it up somewhere?
The "experimenting together" isn't entirely open relationship, the game doesn't cover such path. If Lena/Ian agree to experiment together it means they can arrange threesomes where both of them are involved. Not one of them fucking around with different people.

If I'm not wrong, it really isn't open relationship per se though, they just agree to experiment together in relationship but not free pass to fuck others.
Has anyone managed to get the last Holly event? Do I need to play a pure Holly with no Lena game, or is it not coded into the game yet? I noticed there's a Holly x Ian ending where it seems like it leads to a hinted-at sex scene then they just fade to black if you're doing a Holly Kisses Lena while Dating Ian but doesn't tell him about it route.
My reaction is pretty much "only 5 Lust? What the heck has been Ian doing".

What is the prompt for the throuple path? Does it start with Ian dating lena, then cheating on her with holly, then having Holly kiss lena? Because that's the path I did and nothing came up. Or do you need to start with a pure Holly path and friendship with Lena, into Lena falling for holly?

I think there is a chance for 1 or two shifts to ian's pov similar to lena in this part of the chapter. Lena's part would cover the last day of the beach, then they are back in the city. I could see a smlll pov of maybe ian with cindy, allsion, cherry, or maybe even if we get really spicy another run in with gillian. So we will get less of of ian's pov but I think there is a chance for one or two scenes with ian in the next update or epilogue, like evakiss shifted to lena in this one, but those are just my thoughts and I could be wrong.
Essentially it needs Holly to develop strong feelings for Lena with
lena_go_holly variable at 5 (to the point she kisses Lena during their modelling session) while either Lena or Holly is in relationship with Ian.In your case having Ian fuck Holly while dating Lena might've screwed things up. But one would need to check walkthrough or game script to be sure.
