Can anyone tell me what's up with this new trend. Every developer is recreating their whole game from the start and I can't seem to find a reason why. I find it frustrating because some games don't lack anything and they're just postponing the release of new content.
They have gained skill and experience and then perfectionism kicks in. I am one perfectionist myself and let me tell you something, it consumes you if you don't know how to handle it. You need to learn to let go and accept that sometimes thing can be just 'good enough'. Problem is, every game devs wants their game to be perfect, doesn't matter if it's AAA or indy like Eva. But those AAA studio have deadline pressure from their publisher most of the time so they cut corners and features and downgrade their game, otherwise the game will never see the light of day and stuck in development hell.

Patreon dev don't have deadline because a lot of patrons support them with goodwill and are willing to wait. Not a bad thing, but it can be abused. Not saying Eva is doing this since she mentions a few times that she cut the storyline she wanted because she wanted to release them as soon as possible plus the constant pressure she's feeling to the point she paused payment. But she needs to realise that she will get better every chapter and if she keeps looking back, the former chapters will always look worse in comparison. She should take to the time to focus more on story intertwining and start planning to be honest.

Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

The changes surely are an improvement. Did we need this improvement badly? Not me. Not most of you obviously either. But that's not the point here because Eva Kiss needed them even more. If Eva isn't satisfied with certain aspects of her game, she has no other choice but to change them. I guess there is a lot of passionate work involved in creating a complex game like "Our Red String". I can perfectly imagine how difficult it may be to develop such a game, even more so if you partially don't like it. Eva even stopped the payments of her patreons for the remaking process, not only a fair gesture but also a clear indication that the rework is very important to her. I think except for her patreons Eva must not give account to anyone.

Relax, guys! Even if it takes some time, Eva's work will be exceptional.

i dont want to be that guy, but i think time to redraw / remaster is when u finish all chapters. I would love story progresion over remaster old chapters, specially when they are fine imo
I generally agree. But this is arguably an exception as it's the build that will be introduced to Steam. If she can wow the Steam audience and build hype with an amazing intro release, netting a growing number of preview purchases can help boost the game to the finish-line in a much faster time-frame. Not to mention cash to spend on extra quality. Funding helps. A lot.

Is she still procrastinating in a sense, taking her mind off the pressure of new story arc creation by reworking the art? Maybe. Could stand to reason based on some of her recent posts. No one fully knows but her. But a well-polished Steam release is a good strategy regardless of her other reasons for doing so.

Is she focusing her time wisely on all the right things to polish? Debatable. But it is her game in the end and a creator always tends to focus on the things that bother them the most. A talented producer/editor can work wonders with guidance in that regard, but you've got to find the right one and she's not bringing in the scratch to afford one at this point anyway.

I love the entitlement some people keep showing, by saying how Eva should be doing her work. I'm pretty sure you're all flawless in everything you do, so you've never had the need to redo anything, because you always get it just right the first time you do it. Or maybe some of you are not that flawless but I'm pretty sure you're absolutely thrilled to hear other people, who have never ever spent a single minute of their lifes in doing whatever it is you do for a living, tell you that you should be doing your job this way and that way.

She can do whatever she wants as a single developer. In a normal video game development environment, there is usually a project director who gives you deadlines based on the publisher's release schedule and the dev team's capabilities. This game does not have such an environment. Patrons who actually pay her for her time might have a say in it, but that's it, as long as the money flows there is no need change course from her perspective.

Hey folks! I was playing around with HTML and decided to create a very simple "Build a Lena" page :)

You can scroll through the different face expressions, try many different clothes and so on.

If anyone wants to try it, feel free:

And let me know if you liked it or not. I have other fan-made projects like this, based on the game.

Cheers!

Anyone else keep getting the "transparent tile PNG not found" error whenever they try to start the game? It keeps happening to me even after downloading the hotfix and I have no fucking clue how to fix it, very annoying.

It happened once to me. I was done with it very simply... Deleting absolutely everything and downloading again. But there is probably simpler (and less destructive) way

Tried that, didn't work. I give up for now. Guess i'll have to hope someone did a playthrough of this game on Pornhub or something.

I am taking screenshots of some of the sex scenes and turning them into a web-site, with navigation, points of interest, etc. This way, when I want to review a given scene, I don't need to launch the game and load a save. I'll share one of them here when I finish fixing the files in the storage and publish it.
