DPC has indeed raised the bar but unfortunately noone has followed, they've just adapted the dev cycle scheduele without uping their game. He's the only dev I know of that can justify a 6-8 month dev cycle and back it up contentwise. It's a sad state of affairs nowdays.Yes, it was cool when we got updates once a month, but...
Graphics in games were much more primitive, rendering was faster. The plots were generally primitive, most of the games were good only for clicking to the sex scenes and jerking off to it. And the updates weren't big, they usually took half an hour, an hour at the most.
Now the players requirements have grown a lot, developers such as DrPinkCake have raised the bar quality and for the main VN updates are very big.
And the visual quality in them is not inferior to AAA games. Of course, Eve delayed this update a lot, despite the fact that it will be very large. Only half of the game, Ian's part is the size of Episode 5. I think by her standards the development speed of such an episode should not exceed 5 months, that is, it should have been released a month ago, but 6 months have already passed since the last update and I think we will wait until at least the end of November under the best scenario. I think she has serious problems with inspiration and management, especially after burnout. But now that she's hired an outsourcer, hopefully things are going better.
Very generous of you to count the pointless "rework" release that didn't improve anything from 6 months ago as a real release. As far as I'm concerned this game havn't had an update since Nov -21..
That being said EK is far from any of the worst devs out there, when she releases something it's usually worth playing, which is not true for at least 90% of the devs we see here..
