So the artist 'ghost's EK... Supposedly.

Now, there could be some validity here in EK's wording. Perhaps the artist she hired has ghosted them, for what ever reason. Or perhaps the artist is simple working over time to respond, or perhaps having a life moment that has taken them away. We don't know.

Same time though, naturally for me I don't fully believe all the words EK puts out in status updates. Hell, with all the things she says she plans to do and not do only to do the not do and not do her plans, I have some measure of doubt and reluctance on the statement here.

Nah, I want the story to progress. Horny is the consolation prize.
But what the hell  , the sex scenes are very important, they are not a consolation prize, they are the reward for doing things well, they are a fundamental part of the story, don't forget that ORS is a porn game, I guess sex with Robert could be consolation sex, right? :LOL:

Hi guys,

Sorry for the recent lack of status report updates; I've been putting it off since I can't share much yet and I struggle to come up with something that's worth sharing. As always, I've been focusing my attention and effort in developing the new chapter, prioritizing the script.

It's been a bit hard being as productive as I would've liked these past weeks (got hit by the flu, had some remodelations done in my home office, and the artists I was collaborating with decided to ghost me and run away with the money), but I've been getting things back on track...
So, I guess shit happened, eh:confused:? Sadly we don't know the situation between EK and artist so we can't know for sure what happened, maybe they got delayed and EK feeding this "artist ran away" or maybe EK is in writer's block or maybe he did ran away but it raises questions, which platform did she higher him on, how did she handled payments before, etc. A successful dev like EK need to have a reliable source/method to do payments, if not it is EK's fault for not taking correct/preventive measures especially when she is in the industry for many years. You would expect a dev who is knee deep in industry not to blunder like THIS!

I like textbox2 and Lena's dress NEED modifications, not looking good with those boots. Change it to shorts if you wanna go with those boots otherwise it looks like she's wearing stocking over those pants:LOL:.

...At least the backgrounds are ready! I've been working on the art too, and now I can finish off some illustrations with the appropriate backgrounds, while I conduct a new search and tryouts for artist to help me speed up the production...
Only backgrounds are finished but illustrations and scenes are not ready. Plus finding an artist who doesn't scam you and good enough to do your work without being it looking weird or too far from what was in-game before. Good luck finding "The One".

Don't expect update in March. Expect it within from last week of April to 15 May if we are lucky other wise Last week of May or first week of June. Talk about quick updates, not to forget that it is still Ian's part:whistle::coffee:!

You made thread cry, not cool EK, not cool:confused:!

Supposedly. While it is good that EK has atleast reached out, at the same time though it does raise some suspicions. Like I said earlier, the ghosting could be a number of things: Cheated EK (though sounds odd since they worked together for so long), Life Event, Overworked... Any of theses could apply. Or it could be EK's means of throwing a bone to the fans who want 'an update' and she is dealing with more than she bargained for (how hilarious).

This deep in, for someone who has been around the block for a while, you'd think that EK would have things buttoned down and a system in place. Granted there are gonna be things and changes that happen, egos and issues rise, what have you. So for me I'm honestly somewhat skeptical on this front. EK doesn't seem like the person to just hint at throwing someone under a bus just because they might have been ghosted. Now, she could have said that she had some issues with said artist and that matter has been resolved, but instead she purposefully said they ghosted her. It just seems... a bit odd don't you think?

Hi guys,

Sorry for the recent lack of status report updates; I've been putting it off since I can't share much yet and I struggle to come up with something that's worth sharing. As always, I've been focusing my attention and effort in developing the new chapter, prioritizing the script.

At least the backgrounds are ready! I've been working on the art too, and now I can finish off some illustrations with the appropriate backgrounds, while I conduct a new search and tryouts for artist to help me speed up the production.

Aside from that, I can't think of much else to discuss at the moment. I wish I could tell you about this or that scene I finished writing, the challenges it presented, or share some of the images I've been completing, but of course that would spoil things. I will show you something I found while digging through my files though, and that seemed curious enough:

When I was building the first iteration of Our Red String I went through several designs, in this case I was trying out different text boxes. I also created some extra outfits for some characters that were never used (but I might use some of them in the future).

Are you interested in seeing more discarded designs and prototypes from the inception of ORS? If so, let me know and I'll make a post for my patrons; at least I get to share something with you while I keep working on Chapter 12.
Scammers are a blight everywhere. Hope whoever this fucker is he get blacklisted from working with other developers.

We can only speculate or take EK's word as it is as we don't know what really went down between them. He might've done something or EK and artist might have a fallout, writer's block, scammed, delayed due to remodelations of office etc. any of these can be a reason.

But I said someone knee deep in the industry blundering like this is just, doesn't settle right with me, raises some serious questions on EK's methodologies to say the least.

Just my two cents. I would imagine that most, though not all, artists for hire might be uncomfortable working on porn games because it can hurt their chances within the graphic design industry. Obviously some people probably are willing to do it as a side hustle from a regular gig, and some might be hard up for work and take on porn games until something better rolls along. Just seems that artists dropping out of porn games is a common enough occurance as to not be some outlandish claim by Eva here.

I mean there are ton of artists on twitter posting their artistic "porn designs" but you would clearly hire someone who is in that kind of work already if you're hiring for a VN who is going to last for years in development, no?

I don't know. It was just a hypothesis, it seems to be common enough that artists drop out of games, that it wouldn't strike me as an unusual excuse. Again, and I don't know for sure, but it feels to me like there are very few graphic artists that work exclusively on explicit content. I would imagine that most of those you see on twitter are like accountants or whatever in their day jobs and they're just drawing porn as a hobby. If you're a graphic artists as career you have to have a portfolio and showing your ahego face Lena to the HR department of Google likely isn't winning you the job.

I didn't strictly meant twitter artists but someone who will work alongside dev on drawings till the game is completed, someone who is into that kind of work professionally. If you are going to work on a project for years than shouldn't you hire a professional instead of a hobbyist or part timer?

In an ideal world? Yes.

Unfortunately we only have to be patient and any speculation we make will remain in the void because the only one who knows is EK and the reason for keeping the secret was because perhaps he was looking for a solution to the problem but he couldn't find it and he had no choice but to tell what what was happening
