The outcome of possibilities and branches you want for this game is imposible.
All they're really asking for a choice before Lena does the modelling. That's not terribly unreasonable, especially if you're coming in after GGGB, where you could direct Ashley to avoid modelling or selling herself through online apps. Compared to that, you do have a lot less power over Lena, which is a problem for some people because games are supposed to be interactive. So all I'm reading from his comments are that he's disappointed that there isn't more interactivity in how the characters act and develop.

But, as it's been said many times in this thread, ORS is not GGGB. For some people that will be a good thing, for others it's bad.

Let´s see if I can explain it properly (If I have problems expresing in spanish what is complex on my mind, in english is a pain in the ass). The first modelling happens in chapter one, which is sort of a prologue for setting the characters, their contexts and personalities. That happens cause that´s what Lena does and the way Eva Kiss wants to strength the link between Lena, Ian and other characters, besides the café. I would understand better the critique if the second nude modelling event was unavoidable but the first one belongs to the own story context. It´s like asking if Ian can be a bank worker instead of a writer/worker of a book agency.

The difference is, Ashley wasn't a model at the start. In fact, she didn't have any job. She was just a blank slate student without a care in the world. Lena is completely different. So yes, it is unreasonable to ask for a choice not to model. Because Lena already IS a model. And a waitress. And an amateur songwriter. Those are her character traits, you can't retcon or rewrite them. You can't make Lena quit her waitressing jobs to do something else, because she needs to earn money somehow. She can be fired from the restaurant and the cafe is about to close, but those are external events that determine her future, not something she does willingly. And, she can't NOT be a model, because that's another of her outlets that gives her money that she desperately needs to send to her father. She could quit modeling and focus on her songwriting more, but she won't have enough money then in a forseeable future. In Lena's case, modeling is a necessity, Ashley didn't have money problems (except for tuition) and could work as a bookstore helper or a waiter at McDonalds if she wanted to. Lena doesn't have that luxury.

You do know I'm not complaining, right? I'm just saying I can see Limited20's POV.

But I think it's wrong to say that the characters, their contexts and their personalities aren't malleable. Later, you get the choice for Lena to decide whether modelling is the important to her, or you can chose her music. You can also chose something shallow like 'money'. And earlier in Chapter 1 you have a choice for Ian between choosing to focus on his writing or jerking off. How invested the characters get in these activities is something that the game offers already. For the modeling gig, it probably wouldn't be difficult to just make it non-nude to begin with and lock a later nude promotion in the life art class behind higher lust. (Note, I'm not actually recommending this, I like the game as is, and the nude version as it appears in the first chapter is more titillating. I'm just pointing out that what Limited20 is asking for isn't impossible and doesn't have to diminish the characters themselves.)

The difference is, Ashley wasn't a model at the start. In fact, she didn't have any job. She was just a blank slate student without a care in the world. Lena is completely different. Like I said above though, you do get to determine her investment in how much she cares about those paths. It's all about player control. So it's not impossible because Eva could write a path where Lena does quit modelling, doesn't have enough money, and has to either beg Stan or Louise to cover her rent, putting her at their mercy. Literally anything is possible if Eva wanted to write those paths and give the player that level of control. Now, I don't blame Eva for not wanting to write those paths. The game is already huge and expansive as it is on top of being well written. But these things aren't impossible. It's all just a matter of how much control Eva wants to give the player. As much as the story here is better there is less control than GGGB, and that's both a pro and a con.

I get that the nude modelling event is a meet cute for the pair. Like they've only seen each other at the coffee shop and the first time he sees her outside of that she's modelling and she's nude. It's supposed to be a surprise. But I don't blame anyone who plays the game, gets to that point and drops the game because they realized they won't be able to affect that part of the character's story.

Lena fits the very good looking category, but it's Ian who has the pick of the litter. Guys like Stan, Ed, Jeremy and Perry couldn't pick up Lena in a second-hand store, they aren't blessed in the looks appartment, but more importantly all of them have the personality of a 16 year old.
Yes that is true, Lena could pick up easily guys in bars and clubs, but she mentions at more than one occasion how tired she is after working her two jobs. and she gets reprimanded by Ivy for missing out on pole dance lessons and that she didnt spend as much time with her as she used to. my guess would be that Lena is a) lacking the time to hang out in bars and clubs and b) lacking the energy to actively hit on someone.
nevertheless she gets the Mike opportunity on the rare occasion she went clubbing. if Mike would be a good choice is another question, but club hookups are rarely chosen for their good personality and golden character.

With Emma entering her life I'm getting the impression that Lena will be more involved with Ian's friends in the future, so hoepfully that doesn't rely entirely on her relationship status to Ian.
This. i was really glad when Lena met Emma in the record store and she offered to help with the drums. i think Emma is a genuinely good person who can be a very good friend. she emanates a friendly and easygoing vibe and could possibly even introduce more romantic options to Lena outside Ians Circle with her political activism (Lol imagine some vegan male feminist with a toned slim body because he has freeclimbing as his hobby). MyLena will definetly try to strengthen this bond with Emma.

After playing the seven updates, I can say that there is clearly a difference between protagonists, Ian has better development, better secondary and basically the romance component of the game falls on him.

Lena, on the other hand, has little development and her secondary ones are linked to her for something sexual, Lena must only agree to fuck to do it, unlike Ian who must win over the girls, this is because Lena's character is based In sex or corruption, it is true that Lena is not Ashley, but they are not that different either.

Because i love this thread giving interesting answers to questions what do you think guys will happen once Ian finds out what Lena did with Jeremy at Ivy house. If you guys remember Jeremy i believed would have told Ian that Lena gave him a good suck but he had to leave because people where pissed at the bar. Do you guys believe that Ian would had puched Jeremy at that moment at the bar or no , or what do you think will happen once he finds out . Thanks again for your attention if it was hard to understand sorry English it's not my native language

Chapter 7 WIP showcase

You guys seem interested in me sharing some more work in progress illustration stuff, so I prepared a few images showing the process behind some of these images. I'll try to show it a bit more in depth this time, from the photo reference to the final coloring steps, and talking about some of the ideas and challenges that came up with these specific scenes.

Vote down below which scene you'd like to see WIP shots first, and I'll post them during this week as work on Chapter 8 continues. I'll also post some behind the scenes stuff concerning this last chapter for +$30 patrons (SPOILER warning) if you're interested in seeing some of the early drawing I've been working on!

- Lena and Ian 22
- Holly and Ian 49
- Cindy and Ian 95
- Ivy's game 64

This should depend on your playthrough I think:
1) Did Ian tell Jeremy that he starts falling for Lena? (If he did, there will be a conflict)
2) Does Ian have good relationship with Jeremy? (If he does, he might believe him that Lena is probably not a relationship material)
3) Did Ian have sex with other girls? (If he did, he might not blame Lena for having a bit of fun as well)
4) Did Ian ask Jeremy for photos of Louise or Alison? (If he did, he might get turned on by the idea)
5) Did Lena sleep with Robert/did Ian fight with Robert at the life drawing event? (see 2, Ian might get disappointed in Lena even more)

Is there a kind soul out there willing to upload the Mac 0.7 final version? :)
Just download the latest Mac version, then download the latest PC version.
Right-click the mac OurRedString.app file and click show package contents. Navigate until you find the games folder, just delete it and copy over the games folder from the PC version. This works for all renpy games.

I still can't figure it out... What is Robert for? This has to be one of the most horrible and completely uninteresting characters I've seen in a visual novels in my entire life
I think most people here agree on Robert being a douchebag. Nevertheless Robert has some purpose and relevance in this Game.

Let me explain

1. Game Mechanics wise he provides the opportunity for early Lust Points, which may be needed if u want to start Lenas Corruption early.

2. Robert provides early sex scenes which developers need if they dont want to rely on a) dream sequences or b) flashbacks; and developers need early sex scenes to keep or get the audience interested in their (porn-) game.

3. Exactly because Robert is being a Douche he doesnt railroads Lenas story too early.

4. Robert works as an early counterpart and (weak) antagonist to Ian. Lena can choose Robert one or two times over Ian which is nice for players who either
a) arent into Lena x Ian or
b) like to fight for (and eventually win) their girls (as i do: "Ganbate (japanese for "Work hard/GoodLuck") Ian!" ;)) or
c) like some sharing or NTR vibes in their game (as omg Ian is such a wimp he looses even to a douche!)

5. For dramatic build up developers should not introduce hard antagonists (Axel) or EndBosses (Seymour) too early.
Ian (and Lena) need the chance to levelup a bit before they have a fighting chance / face them on equal grounds.

6. Robert is weak and needy and kinky, this providing Lena some defining traits:
a) does she give in to his demands although he has a weak character? then she may be more submissive than we thought
b) does she play his neediness and weakness against him? using him for her own goals? she may be more dominating or smarter then
c) does she like the roleplaying / cosplaying (i certainly do ;))? here we go
d) do u think kicking his sad butt out of her bed while she is already fucking him is one of the greatest moments in this game?
:ROFLMAO: i certainly do

so no, i dont wanna miss Robert in this game, i am totally cool with him.

Ivy's great as a catalyst for other characters, I don't think she's very interesting in herself. If someone will do literally anything sexual in front of anyone, it's sort of meaningless and has no charge when she does do things, I don't think she's attractive at all (though obviously some people like her). Also think her look is a bit grotesque/skull-like in the art often
My least favorite female character, too. She's drawn well imo, but her style and attitude are off-putting. It is possible to be sexually liberated and confident without being a materialistic egotist. Those traits aren't interchangeable though current society often confuses the latter for the former. I blame the glorification of trashy reality TV stars, starting in the early 2000's. Basically, she's got that dime-a-dozen, plastic insta-hoe vibe that I find kind of boring. That's no knock on the writing though, since she serves a function in the story. Fiction would be boring and unrealistic if everyone were agreeable.
