nah he needs to be alive so when Ian finishes his martial arts path he can beat the shit out of Axel.
Technically some paths can be maintained even if cheating is involved -- specifically, Lena/Ian which has multiple ways to prevent the cheating-based breakup in Ch.12. It remains to be seen if there's more scenarios like that.

And their relationship as previous comments have mentioned, is one of improvement, support, and superficiality (pure attraction), but it even makes more sense and has more drama than the one with CherryZzz or Minerva.
