Well, the straight answer is that at that point Ian isn't really considering Holly a proper romantic option quite yet. That all develops while they're on the book trip. I think any individual with the circumstances you describe would be hard to date, Lena is not unique in that regard. If Lena, like any other person, sticks to dating one person (or at least communicates clearly that "you aren't special" to everyone she does date) the potential for drama decreases, such as you see in game if you just don't entertain more than one option.

A less active game perhaps, but you are setting the scene you are complaining about up yourself. The drama that hits Ian for example is minimized if Lena just doesn't involve herself with others, Axel's the only hard line really.

I imagine that the number of 1. is quite low, but I wouldn't be surprised that if 1. is true then the chances of 2. in correlation would quite high, so long as you remove the "photographer" part. Well connected people are often connected to each other and rich people tend not to like being told no anyway.

I think what Gicoo means is that regardless of choice Lena will always be a complicated date because of the people around her. Seymour will always have interest in Lena for whatever reason, Axel's always her ex and always a toxic presence, even if you minimize their interactions. So there's some automatic drama to dating her, even if Lena does all the right things to be a loyal and monogamous girlfriend.

I don't know that I agree with Gicoo that it makes her such a negative option, I think Lena has traits that makes her a fun partner that a confident lover would probably enjoy in spite of those things, since Lena in this case is doing all she can to avoid the drama.

Mhm, that'll probably be easier to judge when the game's done. With how toothless both Axel and Seymour have actually been so far, my thought is that Lena is very much worth it. That is, assuming the game state in question is one where she makes all the choices to be a good gf and avoid the optional parts of said drama.

It isn't an opinion that Lena is hounded by Seymour and Axel, has relationship, work and money issues, toxic friends, a stressful family that missuses her money. Its an observation. One that people seeking for a potential girlfriend do, whether they are conscious of it or not.
