I think the "slice of life" bits are what makes the rest of the content stand out in contrast. Just consider how in this update people complain that it's really nothing but a series of disjointed sex scenes lacking anything even resembling a plot between them. There's currently multiple ways to both arrange and resolve this scenario, it's a major decision the player can make as Ian in Ch.12 (and as Lena in earlier chapters) It can end up in a break-up, making the relationship open, Ian choosing not to bring the matter up (while Lena can decide on her end whether she wants to keep cheating or try to stop it) or Ian forgiving Lena (which can involve punishment or not)
Note, the player has also options to cheat on Lena as Ian. The exact configuration is left up to your choices.

There's one pairing which is incompatible with Ian/Lena as a couple, and that's Lena engaging in sex with Jeremy.
