Eva is a very talented sex writer, but there are some times when it feels like ORS would benefit from not being a sex game. There's a lot of nuance and complexity in some of the storylines, and then the next scene has some fan service or a sex scene because it feels necessary for the genre, but it's jarring having the two scenes side by side.
To be fair, i think that some of the sex scenes actually add a lot to the narrative at certain points. Like that scene with Ian punishing Lena, e.g.? Not only it's fire, but it also shows very well how the whole cheating thing has affected their relationship going forward, as well as Ian's (and Lena's) feelings at the moment. Same for the trinity scene and some others, early in the game.

So i don't think it's jarring or that EK's games would necessarily be better if they're made purely sfw. There are some sex scenes which wouldn't make difference if they're removed, but overall i think EK's games would do better as equivalent of those romance novels, which do include some sex at the end of the day. It's just not main focus.

I have no idea what is your mental image of such guy, if you think Ian wouldn't be able to compete effectively with himself.
It's Bill Clinton, man, plain and simple. And he makes youououuuuuuuuuuuu noises on stage for a living. Absolutely perfect.

Is that all it would take you to drop your knickers for a guy?
Hell yeah. Dropping knickers, waving pantaloons, fainting on the small bedroom couch.

Sex sells much better in this industry.

However, Eva succeeded because their work was a healthy mix of romance and porn. Characters and stereotypes, plot and porn.

exactly. Thankfully dev patreons are totally different. Imagine if f95 users were her paid members. We will get handholding lesbian simulator and best action will be kiss on the cheek with other male. Not to mention few users in this thread are anti-ntr and i see them often in male protagonist games
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Haven't you seen other games here?
Cocky alpha assholes like Axel and Mike are great to have in the game, the corruption aspect is one of the core aspects of these games. But if these types are balanced with some nice, comforting, reasonable nice guys, its a much better end product, just how in GGGB you had some wholesome routes. And even their alpha Jack had some depth and possible redemption, while in ORS, Axels content got cut and he is an irredeemable villain.

That Ian-Lena sex scene was one of the best written sex scenes in FMC games.

I couldn't stand Jack in the beginning but he grew on me and I was positively surprised by his wedding ending.

My favorite sequence is when Lena kisses Ian for the first time at the record store and then she turns the corner and kisses Robert passionately and they go to her place for sex. Amazing turnaround.
That scene is a classic. It's like she's saying to herself "Enough of this serious lovey dovey/dating/relationship/feelings bullshit, let's get back to plain old fucking".

There are 2 core problems, really -

1 - all other romances are written to either complement or sabotage/kink up the Ian-Lena dynamic. That's their primary purpose, they're not really written to be fully developed love stories on their own, even in the "love paths".

2 - all male characters are written to either make Ian look better in comparison (all the loser friends) or like a beta cuck (all the "alpha" fuckboys), depending on what you're into. That's their primary purpose, they're not really written to be three-dimensional characters or compelling love interests on their own.

I agree with the second point. But I don't see it with the first. Yes Ian x Lena are pushed the the hardest by the game. But the other romances aren't all geared to enhance Ian x Lena. You can play Ian x Holly or Ian x Cindy straight and not have any real interference from Lena. Unless you meant Lena's romances which I wouldn't even call that. They're all corruption/lust based and not romance, with very few exceptions.

So I was wondering do you guys think Alison would be sleeping with Jeremy if he wasn't one of Ian's good friends? This is based on if you are not sleeping with or dating Alison. To me it always seemed like she was mainly sleeping with him because she hoped it would make Ian jealous/ to get back at him in a "If you won't sleep with me I will just sleep with your friend" kind of way. I can't tell if that is just a duh that is super obvious or if I am looking to deep into that whole thing.

It's both. Jeremy is an old friend, available and willing to fuck her, but also connected to Ian, so she tries to make Ian jealous through his friend. Its just a very convenient timing for her: She just broke off with her partner, so she is looking through her small social circle, and both Ian (who was taken for years by Gillian beforehand) and Jeremy are available and not named Perry.

Can anyone tell me how to unlock these 2 photos. I have tried multiple routes but I was unsuccessful. Plz guide me on how to unlock these and also do Ian have to forget Gillian to unlock these?? And does Alison need to have blonde hair or brown hair??

A dating sim (with or without porn) with a female protagonist and wholesome male romances is a very niche market. Most of the audience of these games is male and is not interested in that kind of content (playing a woman romancing handsome men). They want kinks and "corruption" with lots of sex if they're playing a female. Lesbian content interests some of them though, as romancing wholesome women is still pleasant even though the protagonist doesn't have a dick (and futa genre exists).

So that's why Lena's male LI are not handsome men outside Ian who is also a protagonist. And Ian's part is more conventional male MC's story with character improvement and wholesome female LI.

Yes that's double standard but it is what it is, men and women are different and have different interests.

I don't know about the Alison route (I don't like her) but as a Cherry fan I can help with that one, the scene you are looking for is called "Cherry facetimes Ian". It is from a video call between Ian and Cherry at Perry's parents' summer house and shows Cherry in a bathroom covered in a white towel. I think you just need to be on her relationship path and it should come automatically. In the scene she goes on to shower nude for Ian which is really hot NGL.

I’d imagine that’s why most of these “choose your own adventure” VNs tend to see longer and longer gaps between updates, and so many just get outright abandoned; as more and more characters come on, each with their own stories and branching paths, it just becomes too much of a tangled mess for one person to keep track of.

If you look at big-budget games with choices like Mass Effect, each character has their own dedicated writer.

Very true. In fact, in the scene that I was referencing, when Lena meets up with Robert around the corner after her first kiss with Ian, she has the option to either go straight to her apt for sex or to walk with Robert and have an actual conversation. It seemed like she was trying to have a real relationship with him instead of just using him as her fuck toy. Even if you choose that option she still ends up using him as her fuck toy.

Some sex scenes add to the narrative, some don't. There's also a lot of times where ORS feels like a romance story that just allows the scene to continue without a fade to black, and in those moments, yeah it all aligns and it is great. But it's not an even spread across the board for all characters and all relationships.
