I'd like to answer you with a post i made here some time ago.

"I think most people here agree on Robert being a douchebag. Nevertheless Robert has some purpose and relevance in this Game.

Let me explain

1. Game Mechanics wise he provides the opportunity for a couple of Lust Points, which may be needed if you want to start Lenas Corruption early.

2. Robert provides early sex scenes which developers need if they dont want to rely on a) dream sequences or b) flashbacks; and developers need early sex scenes to keep or get the audience interested in their (porn-) game.

3. Exactly because Robert is being a Douche he doesnt railroads Lenas story too early.

4. Robert works as an early counterpart and (weak) antagonist to Ian. Lena can choose Robert one or two times over Ian which is nice for players who either
a) arent into Lena x Ian or
b) like to fight for (and eventually win) their girls (as i do: "Ganbatte (japanese for "Work hard/GoodLuck") Ian!") or
c) like some sharing or NTR vibes in their game (as omg Ian is such a wimp he looses even to a douche!)

5. For dramatic build up developers should not introduce strong antagonists (Axel) or EndBosses (Seymour) too early.
Ian (and Lena) need the chance to level up a bit before they have a fighting chance and can face them on equal grounds.

6. Robert is weak and needy and kinky, this enables us to provide ourLena with some defining traits:
a) does she give in to his demands although he has a weak character? then she may be more submissive than we thought
b) does she play his neediness and weakness against him? using him for her own goals? she may be more dominating or smarter then
c) does she like the roleplaying / cosplaying (i certainly do )? here we go
d) do u think kicking his sad butt out of her bed while she is already fucking him is one of the greatest moments in this game?
i certainly do

so no, i dont wanna miss Robert in this game, i am totally cool with him."

My view of Robert hasn't changed in those past months, i think he was purposefully created this way for above reasons.

I am not saying a decent, honest, hardworking and charming Robert would not have posed an interesting alternative narrative.
Since myLena shot down Mike immediately i am not sure about his role, but from what i gathered here, Mike is a cheater.

I recently saw a poll on if and what specific kinks should be incorporated into another game, and foot play was second lowest on that list, only enema scored lower, even watersports, for instance scored considerably higher.
While that poll may be not representative, i think it gives a hunch about foot play isn't that popular and may be already overrepresentated. I personally feel like you get footsies in every other game (which ofc isn't true).

My view on this issue would be, that Devs add foot play to their games, because it is a rather inoffensive kink (again compared to i.e. watersports), which normally doesn't turn away players from a game. But nonetheless it may cater to a rather small community, and since every realized scene competed and won over a different sex scene which could have been done instead, i'd personally see rather fewer of them than more.

Foot fetish usually is divisive since most people either love it or hate it so I guess it's generally a number's game: will there be more people buying/supporting it because of that type of content then people avoiding it for the same reason (or, of course, a developer living out his own fantasies). For ORS fetishes are IMHO more of a bonus in certain scenes since the game is story- and character-driven.

My impression was more like nobody would drop a game over this kink, so it's relatively safe to add a few footsie scenes, because a Dev can get those few who like it without loosing any.
I mean add rape or scat (or any other really controversial kinks), and you are certain to alienate a considerable amount of people. Foot Play doesn't have this destructive potential imo. I've never seen something like "Eeeeew, feet are disgusting! Drop dead Dev for adding this content!"

I am quite neutral on this matter, so perhaps my perception is skewed, usually it's like "Eh, again? Whatever. Let's cum on those toes and get over with." Never would call a game bad for it, but would have instead preferred something else.

To recur to aforementioned poll, only 16.7% voted for Foot Play and i don't think alot of those other 83.3% would stop to play the game if incorporated, whereas 27.2% voted for watersports, and i suspect a relatively high number of those 72.8% who didn't would be annoyed if confronted with this kink. Perhaps it's worth noting, the poll allowed to vote for more than one fetish, so there was no drawback in choosing a specific one.
There are fetishes which aren't particularly liked by a lot of people, but usually tolerated, whereas others are an absolute no go for those who don't like them. Foot Play doesn't strike me as one of those.

You might be right, my thoughts were influenced too much by real-life experience where a lot of people find feet disgusting and seeing footplay is a turn-off; however it might not bother them much in a visual novel.

As much as I complain about the insane wait, splitting the update is a terrible idea and the right call was made.

If the dev is struggling from burnout or just struggling to continue the story it may be a sign to maybe move onto a different fresh project. I like this game but the amount of time its taking screams burnout or struggling to come up with new content.

Having done some writing before in my life, I'm not sure people understand the amount of narrative threads Eva has to deal with per update. Now, you can, I suppose, make the observation that creating a game with so many narrative paths is unwise...I disagree myself, but it's a fair observation...what you shouldn't do is expect any update of ORS to come in at under 6 months. I would call that wildly unrealistic expectations.

Or even, god forbid, if the focus was on the boy, getting him out of his learner plate bed and manning him up

Yeah, I do not care about Ian at all personally. There are endless games where you can play whatever male power fantasy bang all the girls. A good Fem PC game is so much rarer. Just goes with the territory of the games mostly being written by men for men.

i've played Noemi Toscana Rebirth and College Craze and Lust Campus that has female MC. Do you have any other recommendations of Female MC renpy games i haven't try? that's at least half as good as ORS?

I can think of three VN right now with my sleepy brain.


*Project Myriam - Life Explorations. Has a great amount of branching choices and hot 3D renders. I was surprised with how different you can play the game.

*Rise of the White Flower. It has amazing artwork with really hot sex scenes and a very detailed fantasy setting story. It is made on Unity instead of Ren'py but it is a visual novel.

*Bad Memories. You can play with a female character, which i believe fits the story better, Jill (default name) who goes around seducing all the women. There is a long interval between updates by the way.
