It was briefly talked about a couple months ago. If I remember it originally used to be wether Ian hooked up with Cherry or not. It got changed to Robert/Mike in Chapter 4 or 5 update.
As to why, I´m not sure how or where it fits narrative wise. I speculated first, Jessica might be that "somebody - but it´s complicated" Cherry talked about after spending the night with Ian. Now, maybe Jessica is Mike´s yet unknown girlfriend? She finds out and it sends her into an "episode"?

My only guess is that it was made like this to better fit the narrative of the game. I suspect bad Jess will be more involved in the story, given that Lena fucks around. Originally (Chapter 6 Alpha), Jess was bad by default and was only good if Ian hooked up with Cherry. That one made even less sense and was pretty random. With Robert and Mike at least, you can argue that Lena becomes more sexually confident like Ivy. If Lena is more like Ivy, then I guess Jess adapts to this character dynamic as well. And if Ian and Lena are not aiming for that boyfriend-girlfriend relationship, then perhaps Jess could be in for some fun, too. Just speculating though. Good Jess on the other hand is in a relationship with a "boyfriend", so she could become Lena's friend.
