This is the difference between playing a game and roleplaying a game. I've played a lot of mmo/rpg, but never actually roleplayed. It's the same for me in avn's, I play the game, not as the characters. This is also why I find the whole harem vs cuck arguments so damn funny. If you are roleplaying a male mc in a harem game, you are also being cucked while your pixel self is having sex with his harem girls, bizzare. Even watching porn where a male has sex with a female you are getting cucked if you imagine yourself as that guy. The male psyche can be a fragile beast.
