My theory is that Eva worked too much on Chapter 8 and in order to avoid burnout, she took a longer vacation. The real development of this chapter probably started in the last week of August. The release date target: end of September. Development went on and now we got a more realistic date: end of October.

Pretty much sums up what I have been thinking for quite some time now. I didn´t want to go there since I don´t know the person "Eva Kiss" but my gut feeling plus a little reading between the lines, even going back to the last few status reports for Chapter 8 tells me the work load of this project + her pushing her work rate above healthy limits is what lead to where we are now. I may be completely off and this is all an elabote plan to milk patreons but I´d give the benefit of doubt here.

I feel either she needs more help or the game will need to be downscaled. I think she has already mentioned something about the possibility of axing people like Ed's path if needed and I think she's rapidly getting close to having to make that decision. Maybe the thing with Stan is axing his route now that I think about it

I agree, I think what we are seeing the limitations of how much 1 person can do with a game with every growing number of multiple choices and paths. Having 2 MC's was always going to be tough then having so many other characters and arcs only added to the workload until it has become unmanageable.

If you think the delay is due to Eva slacking off... she was in hospital a couple months ago. So show some moral support?

If you think the delay is due to Eva has too much work... pay her more so she can hire help?

We love this game or we won’t be here, talking about problems isn't hating. This game can't be completed if someone doesn't help her. Every chapter become more complex with an absurd quantity of choices, it's obvious that requires more time but if the chapter 9 taked 5 months(at best) chapter 20 will take 2 years? It's impossible to do all by herself if she want to finish this game and that's a fact.

I think Eva might have hit a writers block during this update and probably found it hard to string through a way each of the plotlines will move on coherently. That's why things are taking more time. Add to that the break she had taken earlier. I think she bit more than she could chew by having two different protaganists with so many branching plotlines which is becoming harder and harder to maintain with each update.

Add to that I apparently also read somewhere that she writes the major storylines as per each update which now seems like a bad strategy. Think she should have taken 2-3 months before she even started working on the game and had readied a proper draft of the story which would have made making the game far more easier and the time between updates lesser.

It's understandable she is just human after all but yeah if it's getting harder for her and the updates are taking more time because of whatsoever reasons, think she should hire help to tackle those specific reasons. Ah well anyways can't wait till the end of the month.

I know, but if the whole development process is longer, then it means she has more time to produce art. Sometimes the best way to overcome a deadlock in writing is to do different tasks for the time being and return to writing later, after clearing your mind and rethinking. I know I may sound overly optimistic, but I hope she didn't waste these additional months only on "overcoming writing difficulities"...

If you've read the (almost) weekly updates, you should know it was exactly what she was doing. Working on the art with a bit of writing, as opposed to her usual process of dealing with the art first, sending it to the colorist, and then focusing on writing. I noticed it first hand, how all art for Ian's part of Chapter 9 was already colorized and completed. Usually, during the testing phase, I have to deal with uncolored drafts as placeholders or even not having the art at all in some scenes (because the colorist would still be working on them).

I don't want to be the spoilsport here, but from update to update it will certainly take more and more time. 4 - 5 months will now be normal. You shouldn't forget that the stories, including the consequences, get more complex. If you consider that currently about 1/3 of the game has been achieved, you have to expect a final full version at the earliest in 2025.

"Constructive criticism"yeah sure, blaming her for taking a well deserved vacation after delivering for years without missing a deadline, blaming her for getting sick and taking a few weeks off to get better this is what you call " Constructive criticism" ? yes the game is getting bigger and more complex with each chapter but you know what would actually be great? instead of whining these freeloaders should chip in and pay her if they love the game and want it as soon as possible, they should pay and help her so she can outsource some of the workload and gett it off her back so she can focus more on the writing part of the game. the minute she got more money she outsourced the coloring process and drawing new backgrounds for each chapter, in conclusion either pay or shut up.

I'm not talking about you specifically, I don't know if you're a patreon or not but I'm talking about everyone here in general.
