Something being obvious isn't bad if its properly foreshadowed and rewarding to readers who give attention. Its satisfying to have the musings in your unconsciounsness confirmed.
Being edgy and trolling it for the sake of a twist and the mystery being unsolvable is cheap.
Keep in mind that the average gamer isn't playing this game regulary. If you only play it once or twice, the Mike hints are easier to miss.
