Guys is there a walk-through where it shows choices or stuff we need to do follow a certain character'a path? I went through one with flow charts while I managed to follow it for a while it got quite hard to follow and enjoy the content. I played gggb years ago and I remember it having a guide like that. I know ORS is a complex game to be simplified like that but I just wanted to know. How do yall keep up with all complex routes

No, the game is just too complex, since it doesn't lock you on character specifics route and instead just goes by scene by scene and just checks if you have fullfilled the conditions for it or not.

Generally, its very indicative which choices to make to be in favor of a character, just save scum. If you want to romance a character, its also safer to not fuck anyone else, usually it closes the romance sooner or later with some possible exceptions.

If you want to be on a specific path, you can also ask and likely get an answer, unless your path is too convulted and too specific.

Sure, Seymour has influence, but so does Minerva, the judges and of course quality of the book as well, else the entire mini-game would've been a waste.

I wonder if Seymour can guarantee to puplish the book even if its dogshit. Then again, I always wondered if a high book score may not indicate for the book to be published; perhaps a badly written trashy generic book is in favor of better written quality books?

Book 4 of Ian's screening pile was both good and marketable. Book 2 was shit but marketable, while book 1 was just shit and had no audience, and book 3 was quality but would have a hard time finding an audience. I still think the game is kind of wrong for not giving book 3 a positive point. It just needs to be marketed differently, part of their prestige line, and put it up for a bunch of awards. Book 2 doesn't need awards, it has an audience of readers that (occasionally?) enjoy a popcorn book. That's fine.

Specialising is fine, but diversifying is good too. And it seems like that publisher has the freedom to take a few hits on a prestige novel. What's the term, 'loss-leader?'

While Seymour certainly could guarantee a publishing even if Ian´s book is a pile of dung, in most cases he would not do so. For all his faults Seymour likes persons going on against all odds ("that´s what I wanted to hear from you") and the extraordinary. The generic mainstream of books might be what fills his publishing house´s coffers, but Seymour himself prefers quality stuff. That becomes quite obvious if Ian and Lena are on good terms with Seymour.
So a high quality book by Ian is important, no matter if you are on good or bad terms with Seymour.

Nah, Gaymour had one small update after the beach arc and that's about it. The story is normal now.

That would be confirmed if 1. Seymour always recommends the book of Chad Ian who sucked up to him, regardless of the choices in the minigame, and 2. if his reassurance turns out to be always right, so in a later chapter, we don't get a sudden "upps, guess I was wrong".

We get those people for sure, but the user in question appears to be a newbe, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. A bunch of people may just have played this game once and wanted so secure a certain outcome for their next playthrough. A bunch of paths can be fairly tricky to do on the first try. With Cherry you only have the one night stand as your opportunity, else she is locked out forever. The Cindy path is an entire mine field to walk through, going on Minervas path requires the right choices and very high skills.

I thought the main thing was if Lena had a positive score with Seymour (but didn't need to sleep with him).

Oh, absolutely. And it would be great if there was an annotated walkthrough that had key choices and conflicts on main routes, but that's a lot of work, so I understand why the flowchart format won out.

That scene felt quite realistic to me... publishing is an incredibly trend-focused business and what most publishers want is a book that can slipstream an existing success: It's like Harry Potter, It's like 50 Shades, It's like ACOTAR and so on and so forth.

Beyond that, there's also the matter of managing an imprint's levels of prestige... The real business of publishing might be 'Here's more of the slop that you enjoyed last time... tuck in you idiot hogs!' but neither readers not authors want to be represented on either side of that equation. Nobody wants to be the basic bitch who reads the same shit as everyone else and no author wants to be the flash-in-the-pan who will get dumped when the trends change. So a lot of imprints manage their prestige levels either by taking on difficult books that win awards or (more frequently) keeping authors on the books on the basis of their past successes... sure they don't sell that much any more but they're prestigious and young authors will look at them and believe that this publisher might support them throughout their career.

Given what Minerva and Holly say to Ian when he's reviewing and the kinds of books that Ian gets to make decisions about, I don't think that Seymour's company is particularly well-run or forward thinking: They're bandwagon-jumping, slop-dispensers. Which, to be honest, fits with the fact that their senior management are both weird sex-freaks.

Even if you call Jeremy out for being a snake, and try and sabotage his chances with Ivy, the game still mostly treats him as buddy buddy. Though I don't know how bad it gets if a in love Ian has Lena cheat on him with Jeremy.

I'm still disappointed that Lena didn't have an option to get excited by that fight. Missed opportunity to have her find that sort of "alpha male" dominance sexy. Something she obviously starts to develop if she goes back to Axel or hooks up with Jack. Shame she couldn't develop that here for Ian if he wins, or call him out as pathetic if he loses.
