Ian better get used to Alison's "cooking".Replaying this game to setup saves for the next update, and I have to say I don't like how Ian's infidelity is handled from Lena's side of things. On Ian's side, he can find out that Lena's been "going around" in general, hooked up with Jeremy (late relationship route only), and I believe he can find out about Axel as well. From there, if he hasn't committed to Lena yet, he can choose either look past it and still go for a relationship, or decide to end things (unsure in the case of Axel). Or, if they've committed from earlier on, he can either dump her, forgive her or open it up if he is a cheater himself (again, unsure about Axel). A nice range of options.
Lena meanwhile? She can only find out about Cindy, and if the affair is still ongoing Ian can either lie or tell the truth, and if you decide to tell the truth that's too bad, Ian gets auto dumped no matter how much Lena loves him. Can't even ask for forgiveness or promise he won't act out in the future. That's the early relationship route, and in the late relationship route he just automatically lies lol. Why? Why is the range of responses here so limited? One can make the argument that the Cindy affair is unforgivable because Cindy isn't just any girl, but then again Ian can forgive Lena over Jeremy even though that's a pretty similar if not outright worse situation.
But that's just Cindy. Out of all the women Ian can sleep/cheat with, why does Lena only find out about Cindy? Ivy could have easily told her that she heard "Ian is a player and fucking around with multiple girls" behind her back or whatever, and Lena could have been granted a similar range of options Ian had, in terms of how to respond. As things currently stand, there is no drama for a cheater Ian, he'll likely just keep lying and cheating until the relationship inevitably tanks because of it. Since Lena can currently sense an unrepentant cheater Ian is getting increasingly more distant, it seems to me that things will keep deteriorating until she finds out and dumps him on the spot, and that would be so disappointing.
For me, ideally there would be a future Lena POV chapter which puts her in a crisis the way Ian was in the beach episode, with a similar range of options on how to proceed. Unfortunately, that doesn't look very likely because it seems to me that the beach trip was the ultimate point where the status quo of the Ian x Lena relationship can be fundamentally changed or reaffirmed.
Still hoping for a Lena Cindy catfight over Ian at least, Lena meeting Cindy right after finding out about her affair with Ian and nothing coming out of it was a huge missed opportunity.

Technically it's because Ivy and Jeremy literally stumble upon Ian and Cindy fucking on the street. When it comes to Lena cheating on Ian, it's her fucks in the club that the word about gets around.
Ian is --for the most part-- simply better at keeping his cheating under wraps.
The keeping distant thing is determined by whether Ian has moved on from Gillian, not just cheating. Ian is distant because he's still emotionally attached to his ex.

Did you use any mod before this new update? If yes, then download the updated mod and paste it inside the game folder. If you want to play fresh, your previous saves will not work because of the mod used earlier are modded save file. To play fresh, delete the persistent file in the appdata folder named renpy.

Given that Lena's colour changes from a lighter dark-blue to entirely black depending on the scene I just took that to mean the game is somewhat liberal with its application of colour.Come to think of it I never noticed that Ivy had purple eyes

I get that, but there is really no reason it couldn't have been written in that Ivy had heard some rumors about Ian, just like Jeremy didn't need to be shown catching Lena red handed or him hearing rumors for him to know some stuff and spill it to Ian. For a chapter that was supposed to put the Ian x Lena relationship to the ultimate test, Lena's inner conflict is very under explored.
Yeah, I tested these and the dialogue is very similar in both instances. So an unrepentant cheater Ian and a "loyal" Ian who is pining for Gillian are both distant, but for different reasons.
And speaking of Gillian, it's very hard not to conclude Mike is the mystery boyfriend at this point. I think when Ian fights Mike in the tournament, Gillian will be there to cheer him on and that's when it'll click for him. And then we go apeshit on Mike.
