Huh, I bought this game, the 1.1 version from Nukaku several months back, I wonder what the difference is between that and the 2.1 version here.
I would check your nutaku acount again and see if it is still V1 there. Might have been a screwup regarding versions.
I just stumbled into this thread and for a moment there, I thought I missed something too. I bought the game from Nutaku way back when (November 10, 2016) and played through it. The Nutaku file is named 1.1 and that's what they call it on their store page, but if you click on the credits or look at the folder it creates when installing (whateveryourfilepath\ouroboros_Windows_1_1\Ouroboros 2.0), it's called Ouroboros 2.0. So not really a screw-up per-say, just bad file naming. I think... I'm mostly sure we (Candyman and any other Nutaku purchasers) didn't miss out on SierraLee goodness.

First run feels like a complete waste of time since nothing carries over. Are you really supposed to feel compelled to keep playing after losing all your progress? The non-boss enemies are annoying, fighting them has no benefit so you spend a lot of time running away from them since its quicker with the exception of goblins.

"The combat is quick and fun" quick yes but fun? its just a more boring version of regular RPG Maker combat.

I feel like its a problem that if the player does not use the walkthrough from the beginning of their playthrough they will waste a lot of time and gold on things that don't matter. I feel demotivated to keep playing to be honest.

You might want to play some more, maybe consider how to break the cycle.

(Technically coins thrown into wishing well and some other minor things carry over, but it doesn't matter for reasons that will become clear soon)

More like you missed everything that carries over. Surprising really - it's not that hard to kill the crevice bats.
Being fair to him, the game tells you it will be hard (and on your first time through, with no party, it kinda is). You're not expected to keep anything from your first time through except the realization that it wasn't the entire game but your first time through. Starting on the 2nd loop well as pointed out, try to break the pattern, and then start looking for permanent bonuses.

Buying swords/armors in the first playthrough is ez though. Dragon, and bats in both dungeons pose no trouble whatsoever.

I mean, the first loop kind of has to exist for the game to work. Though honestly, this is coming from a fan and I would defend this game with a dead fish if I needed to.

If u click on the www folder inside is the game & link. I don't have a linux so can't test it.
Some versions of Linux are easy to download and boot from a USB stick if that's the only thing stopping you. That being said...

This, is what I get when I try to open index.html.

I checked the data folder for Actors.json. It's there. And yet, I still get this screen. This happens with versions downloaded from nopy and MEGA. The anonfile link is down.

The 11 reviews seem like Nutaku shills. Is this game actually good?
I think it is, but it's also very different from what people might expect. Like, yes there are a dozen or so sex scenes, complete with replay room, but it's not a game I'd (re)play for a fap. It's in part a parody of stock RPGs (and to a lesser extent isekais) but it plays out more like a puzzle game, almost like Tower of the Sorcerer but with no possibility of getting stuck and needing to start over from the beginning.

God i remember being super into the story in this one, why haven't i see a sequel?
2.0 is sort of sequel adding a lot of new scenes and such.
Anyway this game was designed as a short (ish) game and can't be reasonably stretched much more. Making the characters stay locked in the loop no matter what they do would be silly (and 2.0 already extends the game somewhat), and a story about them fighting whoever imprisoned them in real world would be a normal RPG with little in common to this one.
Besides the dev has a number of other progects to work on.

v2.0 is an expansion, not a sequel. It doesn't advance the plot at all past the point where 1.0 ended; it just adds content during the existing plot.

But yeah, it's difficult to see what the developer would do to make a satisfying sequel. The implied ending is that after spending subjective lifetimes training in the hyperbolic time chamber dilation spell, they bust out and immediately steamroll their captors with their perfectly honed and mastered power. It wouldn't be much of a story on its own.

There's a walkthrough linked in the OP, but you have to go in the forest and and try to go a way you couldn't before.
