From what I understand, most Android versions just port the game and don't make any changes to make the game Android compatible.
This means that controls that are only available on PC are included in the Android port.
Wills747 posted a link to an altered Android version that actually takes Android controls into consideration.
They updated it to version 11, and it is Android functional.
If you want to download the version by Wills then just scroll down a bit. They also listed the new controls in the same post.
Otherwise, if your using an Android port from elsewhere, then unfortunately the game is essentially broken because it uses controls unavailable on Android despite being an Android port.
There are probably ways to get around this.
At the top of this page, I quoted one user who said they were using hackers keyboard to get around the issue.
(Not really sure how they managed that, so sorry I can't be more help here.)
Unfortunately though, I don't know of any way to get around the issue myself, so I am in the same boat as you in that case.
So, to sum things up, you can either
A) use the updated version provided by Wills747,
B) hope that someone else shows up that has a workaround that allows keyboard controls for an app that doesn't have that functionality built in.
Or
C) Try to find some other port that specifically says that it has altered controls to make it Android functional.
I'd personally recommend the modified port Wills made.
But if you don't like that option, then
