9-19-15 Progress Update (Patreon)
We have some bad news for this update, so we're just going to get it out of the way: the artist for Total Degeneracy Island has quit the team, effective immediately. The only reason they gave was that they're not enjoying the work anymore and want to go back to smaller commissions rather than a long-term project. As you can imagine, this has put us in quite a difficult position, especially in the midst of so many artist troubles on our other projects. We've spent the last week weighing our options and have chosen one of the artists who applied to work on PAD to instead continue with this game. A few early sketches were delivered last night, and already we have faith that they will be a worthy successor, with the style being indistinguishable from the original.
We also just heard back from the KP artist, who has suffered a physical accident which prevented them from working. Unfortunately, the next set of artwork they submitted is straying further from target in both style and overall quality, to the point where it's not something we feel we can even put into the game. Our plan is to let them continue, at least temporarily, as a background artist, because their work there is much better and less critical to the project overall. We always planned to go back and redo all of the temp backgrounds in the game, and this would be a good opportunity to do so.
As for character and scene art, we still have hopes that the original artist is back and here to stay. Their message from three weeks ago now implied as much, but nothing has been delivered and no messages have been responded to in the interim. They have been online and working, however, which is more than could be said several months ago.
We appreciate your continued patience as we deal with these uncontrollable circumstances. Rest assured that we remain dedicated to putting out the highest-quality updates we possibly can.
