Fortunately for us, the Patreon execs have seen what's here, got cold feet and won't be buying anything
.
I do buy avn's on Steam and I do sometimes subscribe on Patreon when a game is finished. As a developer myself with plans to release pixel-art NSFW games through f95zone for free with hopes of support through patreon, I'm curious, what % of people on f95zone actually support NSFW game developers through patreon? Is the fear of the April Fools joke merge because people don't want to ever support developers through patreon, or is it that they simply want the option of having everything free on f95zone, etc?
Honestly, i buy most official games the real way through Steam, i download games here usually for free.I do buy avn's on Steam and I do sometimes subscribe on Patreon when a game is finished.
My fear was, although short lived after I saw it was a joke, that some content would get deleted here, mostly things like the incest patches and some more niche games that aren't allowed on Patreon.
I do agree that this place is the best option for adult games.Honestly, i buy most official games the real way through Steam, i download games here usually for free.
you are very correct, incest is one of the subcategories not allowed on Patreon. but its not the only subcategory.
read this statement for more succinct clarity:
More specific Adult/18+ category guidance and clarity. Patreon is fully committed to supporting Adult/18+ creators and their businesses. Informed by feedback from these creators (includingYou must be registered to see the linkscreators of erotic works), the category name “18+ creators and mature themes” has been changed to the less opaque “Sexually Graphic Works.” The team also detailed what is and is not permitted under subcategories such as “Bestiality,” “Sexually explicit deepfakes,” “Incest,” “Pornography and nudity,” and “Sex tourism.”
That being said Fzone is the best option for adult content for games.
Thank you for agreeing with me.I do agree that this place is the best option for adult games.
As you can see I've only joined recently as I wasn't aware of this site even though I've been playing avn's and other adult games for years now.
But this site just opened up a whole new experience and I like everything about it.
Those subcategories look indeed like I would expect to not be permitted on Patreon and also most porn sites.
Patreon, as I understand it, only accepts vanilla sex... with ZERO variability.I am working on a VN myself and to be honest, I don't think most people can afford to pay plus it's a niche, and not everyone is into everything. You gotta try till you find the one you like and maybe support it if you can cough up the money. If Adult games were locked behind paywalls (mostly VN's), they wouldn't be anywhere near as big as they are today.
F95zone is one of the big reasons to why I want to make VN and ofc and the VN's that I played also inspired me. The majority of the devs make money through Patreon and Patreon will for sure not allow free updates here if they had bought F95zone, and also no incest content along with some other stuff because I guess for legal reasons they can't allow it. I think it's also a bad thing for new and smaller devs because if its locked behind a paywall, your content will get less exposure.
Also, F95 is the cleanest and most user-friendly site for adult games that I have seen, so kudos to the team behind it.
In the same time, having his game feature here, and this being your doing, will catch the attention of those 1%-3%, and raise his change to have his first patrons. And it's probably closer to between 1 in 4 and 1 in 10... which would mean 97%-99% of F95 accounts do not subscribe to adult game creators on Patreon.
As a person who frequents this site and supports game and modders, i honestly cant say the percentage of us who actually support devs. tbh if i had more money i would spend more than i currently do with projects i enjoy, but its not viable to support all projects. I would say grow your following first and go with a monthly scheduled of updates. Once you feel you have enough content to sell as a viable product, sell on sites like Itch.io. For both Patreon supporters and your Itch.io buyier, have something that is specifically sold to them (like a walk-through, a directors cut, or a walk-through mod that that goes over easily missed moments or interactions). It may end up pirated but the goal is to get people who realllly like your project to want to support it before its thrown up on sites like f95. These tend to be the things that actually get me to support a project. To be fair I also have a quarterly rotation where i support a project for about 3 to 4 months and move to a different one that i want to support. only a few i support year round. It becomes easier for me to do this with projects like that tend to have longer development times.
Oh no it's not that. I have nothing against F95Z, just how it's getting more and more saturated with shite demos and the life. Cheers anyway. I'll try again. So that people don't rage/panic delete their accounts over a simple joke.
It wasn't about your reasons (how should I know them?), just the explanation why it didn't work for April 1st.Oh no it's not that. I have nothing against F95Z, just how it's getting more and more saturated with shite demos and the life. Cheers anyway. I'll try again.
Never said that they morally shouldnt do this, merely pointing out that there might be legal ramifications on this. One of my points is really that patreon clearly doesnt understand fun based on how they have managed porn on their website and if they want to they can make it f95zone's problem. Legally. Which is a big problem. And one doesnt simply ignore legal problems. There are always people who have to ruin a day like this.
It's not about what's allowed and what's not, just have fun.
If Patreon doesn't understand fun, then that's their problem.
