A game isn't a life simulator, but if you can extend your disbelief in the game world, you're more engaged in what's happening. At least that's how that particular theory of game design goes.
There is a bunch of "useless" flavouring in the game that doesn't add much in itself, and if looked at in isolation seems pointless, but I think it holisticly becomes a better game world the more attention you pay to the details.

A secondary point to having upkeep is to add another check on the player economy, which can get very powerful later in the game. Money inevitably stops mattering in the late game with the runaway effect of slave ownership multiplying your income, but hopefully this point occurs later in the game now for most players.

How to trigger Lola, Rue and Amber events? I was able to triggers sofia's, but even after building home office nothing appeared for three other girls.

So just curious but who are your marriage options? Last time I played (think it was like version 5 or 6) it was only the Mayor's daughter? But I recall seeing somewhere there is another option added? Who is she and what's she like in comparison? Won't be able to play for awhile so figure I'd ask.

HI oranos, how do I trigger talking to Douglas? I did all the Phoebe events when she is at st james drive. Dress her up, relief, offer her mouth.

This is what it says.
Phoebe has already told you what she knows of her master

Yep, I've recieved this feedback a few times already and I think you're right, I'll adress it somehow in the next version with a better way for the player to make money in the early game or maybe just lower the cost slightly.

I found a typo in the first "talk" action with candace in the sorority after meeting her at teh strip club: "Must be alianating to the perception of this city to have a mother like Carmichael."

Alianating should be alienating

Did old saves become incompatible at some point because I have not played this game in a long, long time but I have gone to every location and I can not find anything new to do.

Just wondering if I need to start over? I remember really enjoying the premise here.
