To my patrons on MacOS Catalina
Hi guys,
I'm sure you all are aware of the issues we've had getting the latest version of PQ to work on Catalina. Although we found a way past the security barriers. The game would still crash on startup and an error log would report a miscommunication between the GPU (graphics card) and certain game files. Yesterday I thought that might be due to changes in the GPU driver, but I was only partly right on that.
The problem is that Apple no longer supports 32-bit applications with Catalina. Although Mojave also was a 64-bit OS, it would still allow 32-bit applications to run. This support has been removed with Catalina. The game engine for PQ (Rpg Maker MV) is a 32-bit application, and any games deployed from it will naturally also be based on the 32-bit instruction set. Since it's a fairly old game engine, I highly doubt RPG Maker MV will be released in a 64-bit version anytime soon. And even if that ever happens, I don't think I can simply load the project in the new engine and expect it to work.
I therefore regret to announce that I can no longer support MacOS for PQ from now on. I hate to do this, as a Windows Phone fan (yes, I was one of those. And I still believe it was the best phone OS on the marked, if you didn't take app support into account) I know all about the pain of not being able to run an app on your preferred platform. But I'm out of options.
What I can do is the following:
1. Provide a Parallels version of the game.
For those who run Parallels on their Mac, you can download this version of PQ:

2. Provide a browser version of the game.

I know this is not an ideal solution, but unless someone comes up with a better idea, it's the best I can do.
