How can a potato PC run window11? And why extracting rar need RAM? :ROFLMAO:
Anyway, usually if you're not able extract a rar, it's because the file is damaged during download progress, redownload can solve this problem. Since no people in this thread have no problem extract the file, so the problem is your side (damaged file or damaged PC system/software).
If redownload file not solve the problem, try to extract with 7zip. 7zip is also free like winrar and it's more powerful than winrar.
Some people actually have trouble extracting rar file in window11 however I don't use window11 so I don't know the cause. Try extract the file in a different PC.

Rar is a compressed file type so it needs RAM and processor cycles to execute the decompression process.

Every progress in your PC needs RAM, I mean it doesn't need that much RAM to decompress. Even potato PC can decompress any rar file, low RAM only make you wait longer, not cause error (well, at least from win10 to older, not sure about win11).

I know it says on OP that it's a false positive, but has the Virus / Trojan issue been fully addressed?

Just wanted extra confirmation from others, I saw a few people in the thread comment on it - some says it got flagged others say nothing came up when using the same protection software to scan it, so I'm a bit confused what's going on.

if you are worried i recommend to use a vm and even a secondary computer. then use anti virus (kaspersky, bitdefender, ...) and a firewall (eg. simplewall), and if a game tries to connect to the internet (some games try to connect like after 20min you started playing it), you just deny it. youre not gonna be safe but hey

yeah i just re-checked and this only requires 8 mb of ram, so it must be something else. i extracted with 7-zip and got no problem

If you think a thread that contain virus still able to alive for a whole year then you better join other forum.
it's within the realm of possibility! Some things are just that well hidden, and I could believe that there are talented hackers out there (capable of tricking folks with something that ambiguously triggers scans).... Just being cautious, is all. I rather skip a H-game than blunder into something where there's already big warning signs.

If it was completely hidden, and no one noticed & it ends up infecting everyone, fine, that's fair game.
But no one likes falling for an obvious trap, it just feels worse. :( Sorry if I'm too paranoid

What I mean is this forum is very strict about virus, they won't allowed any virus exist in this forum if it's discovered, so your question rater pointless. The fact that false alarm already acknowledged since the start and the thread still alive for a whole year with hundreds user download and played that mean it's confirmed safe and no one ever have any problem for the whole year. Or as you said it's well hidden for the whole year without get discovered then that's fair game.
That's why I said if you can't trust this site, then you better find other site that feel more safe for you.

Well I'm sure the staff are great and as vigilant as they can be, but there can always be things that slip through the cracked. Their transparency is top-tier, because they even post about it (there's a whole thread for compromised games that they caught a little late, "Recent Malware infected games"). They acknowledge that sometimes things happen, and no site can be 100% perfect.

I trust the site enough to be open enough to ask about it in public to see if any other users have scanned it more thoroughly, and certainly didn't expect to get discouraged from simply asking.

If you read that thread careful then you should know all those games not infected by any virus. They only contain a downloader that force you to download virus, that's why even if you scan the game it can't detect anything wrong, that's how they got into the forum. Also they're discovered it and removed very quick after two or three days.
While this game already confirmed false positive right from first day (so it got detected, nothing slip through here), and it still alive for a whole year. If anything unsafe they'll not allowed it in this forum, if they're unsure then they'll warning you "download as your own risk", and if they confirmed false positive then it mean it's safe.
Well, if you still can't understand what I mean then fine, just ignore this.

to be fair, nothing particularly stops a malware dev from hibernating infected clients for multiple years even. That would be pretty forward-looking and quite surprising, but still. Doesnt hurt to ask, and doesnt hurt to just assume that everything is infected.
