And if you bothered to read the Thread you'd know that without having to mention it. Game dev doesn't implement forward-compatibility by simply implementing their own serialization of data in a controlled manner with any upgrade logic. Saves won't work across new versions (or if they do, they'd most likely be screwed saves).
