When I wrote my review, over 2 and a half years ago, he'd just implemented the clothing system. Honestly not surprised that he's still done absolutely nothing with it.

Well apparently the artist hasnt been doing shit, and he's been having to overpay him from his own pocket and an actual irl job and now just got rid of him. So have fun waiting longer. This might stall out for a bit now. Not that thats anything new. Sounds like more excused tbh.
Shit is 5 years old now and still at the start of the game. Best thing going for it was the art and now the artist left.
Well, I have no idea, what may be the truth,
but there's another narrative arround the let-go of the artist.
Rumor has it, they agreed on a percentage of the general income at the start of the project.
But for a couple of years now, Abelius has made no progress on the game, so the artist had literally nothing to draw
(but, of course, still insisted on his agreed share).
Claim is, since Abelius isn't gonna make more scenes anytime soon, he demanded a cut from the artist payment, which lead to the overall disagreement between those two.

Given Abelius' own claim that he has enough assets for 2-3 more years worth of updates, I tend to think Abelius, not the artist, was the bottleneck.

Nah, it's just laying the groundwork for when he (or more specifically his remaining supporters) inevitably give up and he can no longer continue developing the game 'full-time'.

Bro is earning good money by doing absolutely nothing, releases "updates" that don't do anything at all and add stuff we can't use, gets attention from many here on this forum, then is told what's broken so he can work on it, and the man has such huge balls that he complains about it and blames this site because his game is buggy, unfinished and still in a terrible state despite it being many years old... and because he has not gotten as much money as he could...
I'll be clear here... the "fixed" version is still shit, it still takes too long to load, it still has bugs, it lags once in a while (which didn't happen to me in other versions) and it is still lacking in content, content that should be there, that should work. To be fair the appeal is in the updated yearly roster as people get to make their idealized team from specific year they were already invested in, even if there are more consumer friendly ways to do this. He's been promoting his game on itch.io and most likely a lot of other legal sites, too.
Those sites even reach a far bigger audience.
And that's where devs like him go fishing (or better "whaling").
They lure them with false promises and big mouths into patreon for a monthly subscription.
And you have no idea, how careless a lot of other people are with their money.
I can give proof, that he's making at least 3500$ from patreon alone now (other subscriptions and sales not included).
The amount of attention, he's getting from here, is absolutely not significant.
