Hey circularity! Thank you very much! I am glad you enjoyed the writing, even if the content isn't in your normal wheelhouse!I have some honest open feedback from a brain injured, heterosexual man who has never fantasized about becoming a woman.
First this is not a type of game I normally find arousing however sometimes the writing just works and a little excitement ensues. Firefly by Piers Anthony is a clear example which I read 33 odd years ago would be a prime example of the train wreck that you can't look away from as you get excited by the words even though they are not actual sex.
Second the user interface needs a way to go back (several html games use an arrow button) even if you limit the going back to after the last choice (such as I chose spice and blah blah oops missed the end of that gotta go back and review what happened after I made the choice but the choice itself is locked)
Third again on the user interface you need to allow clicking more than just the "golden text" because any excitement I might have built up goes away as I'm trying to locate the right spot to click.
Fourth brain injury makes it hard for me to read (I used to finish a 300-1000 page book everyday now I can read very slowly if the writing is good) and pictures of the people taking part in the text and actions happening would really help (everyone not just me). PS your writing is incredibly enticing making me want to keep reading even if I should be sleeping.
I hope you carry on this work and bring it to the completed ending and on into your future games. I suspect I know the eventual outcome when the week ends and I will not ruin it with my guess.
You bring up a bunch of excellent points, so I'm going to address them in sequence!
Point 2: A Back Button
This is in the works and should be implemented in the next release, along with a scrollbar to control where you are in the current chapter. I'm using Ink, the text engine, in an odd way, so I have to rewrite the front-end to support that kind of thing.
It is in the works!
Points 3: Clicking on Other Things
This one is interesting, because there are keyboard controls! Hitting the number button that corresponds to one of the choices will choose that choice, and if there is only one choice (as is most of the time), hitting space will advance the story.
I used to have a message for that in the introductory text, but I took it out!
I will put that back in, but for people who can only use a mouse, or are on their phone I need another solution. If you (or anyone else) have any ideas, let me know.
Point 4: Pictures for the characters in the current scene!
This is also in the works, but is going much slower. My plan is to create a version of this game in Unreal or Godot (probably Unreal - the lighting is better), and have live 3D characters of the protagonist and the NPCs.
This was originally to solve the combinatoric explosion problem in terms of art. Candy and Riley have, by the end of the story, 256 possible combinations of transformations each, and that's ignoring changes in hairstyle and clothing, which I would also like to depict. Even just having a single static image of them would be an enormous undertaking, but I would also really like to show certain key scenes and reactions - and doing that and accounting for all the variations was not viable.
So having 3D models solves a lot of those problems.
That's in the works, it's just slow because... well... I'm writing all the time, so I haven't been able to dedicate much time to it.
Thanks so much for your feedback, I really appreciate it.
Both good points! Like I mentioned, spacebar already does advance the text, but I really need to tell people about that!hmm good feedback for the go back ui, can be implemented at the upper ui areas beside save, for the "golden text", it might be a good idea to add a hotkey like enter to just go to the next page without clicking on the text
Thanks to you as well!
