Anyone else having problems where even though you already have logged in and when you search for metadata it still asks you to login?

Does anyone know how to fix?

I tried logging out and logging in again but i still have the same problem.

I get that occasionally, or I have to copy the name exactly from the page, including the engine/status tags, to have it show up at all. It doesn't happen all then time, but often enough to know what you're talking about. I just accept it since this extension isn't actively developed. One guy just kinda took the mantle to get it working for all of us after the original author moved on to other things.

I've always just pasted the website link to the page of whatever game I'm trying to add in place of the name

That works too, but then it's almost the same as just pasting the link in the Links tab and then downloading the metadata straight.

At least it doesn't happen for every game, like it was before brxn fixed it.

I did some testing, by doing things manually,

I got the URL of the image from the game's thread and placed it on the Cover Image / Background Image URL field and it didn't load the image at all,

so, as a workaround I tried to save it manually but then it saves it as an AVIF file with the .avif file extension and I tried to import it like that but I couldn't see it on File Explorer because it wasn't supported by Playnite (I'm on the latest version as of today),

I then converted the images to JPG or PNG and manually added the images locally instead and that method worked for me.

I am not sure what the issue really is because in the image URL it either says PNG or JPG as the file extension but only when saving it with Save Image As in the Right-click context menu do I see the AVIF file extension and you cannot save it as any other filetype, (I'm on Firefox)

It's possible that the image really is in AVIF file format on the thread and that it's not supported, or maybe there's an issue with Playnite itself when trying to grab an image

Update:
I tried using an image URL link from a different site (facebook, reddit, instagram, x) and those images actually loaded in for some reason.

I'm assuming the issue might be the format of the images on the game thread itself (Needs further testing)

I tried downloading a new game (The Censor) and used the extension and I'm having the same issue, the images are still not showing up, could it be a new site update that replaced the file format of the images?

Looks like this is more of os/playnite not natively supporting AVIF problem as apposed to the plugin. This Playnite issue had a suggestion to install the AV1 extension from the windows store and it fixed the blank image problem

Is it this one?

I'm having doubts because it's a Video extension, i'll try it out

Update: Yep it's this one, after I installed the AV1 Video Extension, I immediately tried it on my The Censor copy on Playnite and it worked.

Thank you for bringing that Github thread to my attention.
