Plump City 2 - My Russian Holidays [Final]
At the end of Plump City, you realize a new life is happening for you with old friends. Plump City 2 is more so a short story than anything, but it definitely feels very different due to the story setting and the way it is told. Don’t expect a dramatic masterpiece, but there is a new
element to this game that’s very appreciated in an otherwise stale genre.
STORY
Jason, the MC of Plump City, messed up in Chubby Holidays and Plump City 1. Unable to control his urges, he ends up with the woman who threw him out in the first game. Something horrible comes up which requires Jason to fly along to Russia for family business. But business might not be what you think it will be.
Most of the story centers around the manor you live in, as you try to figure out where you actually are and what is happening around the house. Soon enough you’ll learn that curiosity has a price - which pushes the story into more dramatic territory than it’s ever been. It never gets truly heavy, but the story does call for action and dramatics.
Dialogue writing is not the best as is usually Chaixas’ weaker spot, but the overall story mechanics make up for that.
PRESENTATION
While the mansion can look quite sterile and empty, the visuals of the game are pretty good. A sharp eye might see pixelated screenshots here and there, but overall the style felt believable and realistic. There is a bimbolike look to some of the women and Chaxias caters to the oversized women genre, so if those looks are your thing - this is definitely worth experiencing.
There are multiple intimate scenes, with animations consisting of two frames that are interchanged. It doesn’t do much for me, but the game does pick nice angles to show the action. Often both the angles and actions feel a little standard - the game could do with scenes that fit the story or the personality of the woman you are intimate with. Although in the second half of the game, the story picks up and does explore a bit further. You’ll know it when you encounter it.
GAMEPLAY
This is a sandbox game centered around the house. You’ll be entering rooms, leaving rooms, talking to people, detecting stuff. A great addition is the hint bar at the top which steers you into a general direction regarding the next part of your story. There isn’t that much in terms of sandbox, because you’re mostly needed in one specific spot - so the sandbox is not used to full potential here. That said, this was meant to be a shorter game - so the developer focused on intimate scenes and story.
OVERALL
Plump City 2 was not exactly what I expected. The first was a crazy ride of photoshoots, issues with co-workers and descending into madness. This time Jason is pretty relaxed, until crazy happens around him. The story definitely kept me intrigued until the end, where the game ends with a giant cliffhanger which might be resolved in a future game. While it’s not as big or impactful as the first game, Plump City 2 tells a story you’ll definitely remember.
7/10, so 4/5 on this site.
