I haven't come across it myself, but I've seen mentions of a bug related to Pikachu's ability. If it's something other than Freeelecrtic, then that's probably the problem. The developer promises to fix it in the future, but at this point you'll probably have to start over to get through.
Ahhhhh that makes a lot of sense, my recommendation would be to play the December update instead of continuing with the current update. No Dawn bug and allows for an additional 2 weeks to get you powered up for future battles and contest sections.

Plus if you save during the 2 week restart and then proceed to play the current update you can take advantage of it for more character stories.

I'll have to play the old version.Due to the fact that Pikachu's unique ability is being replaced with a standard one, it has become impossible to complete the battle with Dawn.Even attempts to save and load the game did not help.

actually gonna kms how and why would they make that a thing that can happen on the guaranteed starter.
Now that is a good question. I actually hate Pikatchu anyways. The damn anime ruined the thing for me lol. I'd pretty much take anything else really '_'

ts pmo now i gotta restart my whole save.
Most likely just a bug which has slipped in during recent updates. Pretty sure Pikachu was coded to always get the Freelectric thing before, since IIRC it's also used to ensure the "set cap level based on highest type level" thing the little rat gains at some point, too.

Now I know why I couldnt beat altaria this time. I already was surprised when the event didnt happen that gives your pikachu the increased level cap but I guess that was also related to the freeelectric ability

I hope the bugfix releases real soon. I've honestly been enjoying this game and was far better than what I expected. But FUCK this bug though. I thought something was wrong when I saw the lvlcap thing but just decided to not care, but this Dawn fight though.

That's the neat thing, this is one of several bugfix releases.

You have any possible idea as to when or how frequent their patches for major updates release
First release was on the 26th, this is the 4th patch.
Each bugfix update takes at least a few hours at most 1-3 days, the longest bugfix to my memory took around 1 week because they added in both bugfixes and unfinished content.
Most major updates used to take 2 months now it's 4-5 months, if they are currently satisfied with the current update any fixes that don't absolutely destroy the game will be taken care of during the next major update. This has been my experience as someone that has been playing since the first update uploaded on f95.

To add on with week 10 coming next and the game being almost 1/3 done, the bugs are gonna get really crazy soon due to all the storylines and new features that are gonna absolutely wreck the games code, so prepare to be amazed cause we can only go up from here.

As mentioned, the Dawn battle issue stems from Pikachu's ability being swapped to Static/Lightning Rod.
I changed the pokedex.rpy file to make sure Pikachu can ONLY learn Freelectric instead.

Download the file here and overwrite it in the games/database folder.

Or change it yourself, on line 106.

I have no idea if this will screw up the game at some other point, but this at least allowed me to finish the Dawn fight.

It worked. At least after loading the save, Pikachu's abilities didn't change to others.

You don't actually need to farm experience for Pokemon at this point. In the update of week 9, added an item in the Gardenia store for $ 2000, thanks to which you can avoid the penalty for high levels. Turn it on in your bag and give a low-level Pokemon an experience farm item that Erica gave you, and it will accumulate all the experience beyond the limit inside so that you can later convert it into experience candies and give it to any Pokemon.

What I was going for was lvls instead of experience, but it can also help the financially unstable of us to gain enough money to buy the exp. convertor by giving 2 extra grunt encounters, also it can double your coordinator knowledge to help you potentially become a contest champion and get the water scholarship during the week 10-11 updates.

Oh, I didn't suggest you give up the wing. I'm just letting you know that you don't need an extra farm, because you'll get an item in week 9 that makes it easy to level up.

You don't need to equip it, it works passively from the bag. Take a low-level Pokemon with a low level limit, preferably (for maximum benefit, pokemon from the egg are best suited since they are level one) and give him an Experience share. Now your Pokemon will receive half of the experience, which will then be transferred to the exp condenser.
