Love the game and I'm addicted to it, but the UI and gameplay loop could be greately improved. I'll give some constructive criticism:
- It's too grindy. In a manager game like this, the idea is to give a sense of progress over time. Before you realize, 10 years have passed in game time. Not the case here. The day-to-day gameplay makes it feel grindy as fuck. You shoot the same scene with the same model over and over again, 6 times per week. You can actually be rich in less than a month and I don't think I've ever did a playthrough that lasted more than one in game year. It should be something like you shoot on scene every week, but having to go very detailed into it, checking trends, checking what models are available, selecting the staff... you know, making decisions insted of just clicking on the highest rated model and shooting a b-g scene every day.
- You have to click too much for no reason. For example, for modeling contracts. Click on the contract, click on the model, click on assign. Could be solved with a checkbox by the name of the model, instead of opening a menu with one option. Or even better, turn modeling contracts into a passive income like webcams. It's just a chore and not fun anyway. Also, what's up with having to repair and buy new cameras every few weeks? Just give them a maintenance cost!
- There's no progression for anything except for yourself. That ties with the other points. Raising your stats is a grind and a chore, uninteresting af. The other models are frozen in time. They don't get new good or bad traits, their stats don't improve unless you send them to training... the world feels very static.
Anyway, looking forward to the next version! Cheers!
- yes i know. it's quantity over quality. at some point i wanted to make it like you described, but it all sorta spiraled out of control.
with all the automation it would be almost impossible now to balance it correctly.
for the last few months i am experimenting with difficulty modes. on very hard you have to hit the trends, fan demand, find tags which are not occupied by rival companies and in general minimize other penalties.
so you sorta have to think a bit more, but in the end it still comes down to shooting with the best.
i also have "RL mode" in my test version which makes models a lot more sparser(actually hard limit per country), they cant reach max level and so on. i might include it in the future dev version, but it's not for everyone.
-ui can definitely be better. game's a work from a chaos monkey. at one point it felt logical to me, but then after some feedback and playing some more, i close my eyes, take a big inhale and exhale and reflect on wtf was i thinking.
im trying to simplify some things for the v1.0. might as well do the same for equipment.
you may or may not know, but i do tend to listen and quickly change things if they're retarded, if only to save myself from embarrassment.
so if you have list, drop it here.
-models do progress naturally when shooting scenes. same with staff. it's not obvious, since it's +1 or +2.
they dont get new traits thats true. something i had in plans, it's just hard come up with the right conditionals so not everyone will get them. or in other extreme nobody could.
like how long do you have to work in a strip club to get dancing queen? how many scenes to get nympho? are there any prereqs for them? same with trendsetter and other traits.
