I'd say it comes down to personal preference. I prefer them as staff but I know that Paula Sanderson has 'Player's bunny' trait which reduces (or makes zero?) her wages in a scene with PC. It also depends on where you are in the game. High stats girls are difficult to come by earlier in the game so it makes sense to get a couple of them early on when you can afford them.

Well, my personal preferences are:
Ananya - take her virginity then she gets trait "Blue Balls". Big income from camshows and she's killing it.
Maya Chase. Also has a trait "Blue Balls". Webcam/Model
Carmen Moya - Good to have as a pornstar but also in my latest game she's good staff member.
Italian Sisters. I don't remember which is which, but one of them is good pornstar, another webcam/model.
Alice Mclean. Personally, I use her as a model/webcam. Didn't have a reason to make her full time pornstar
Paula Sanderson - Same as Alice.
Lena Van Houten - Good as a pornstar same as good as Human Resources
Jenny Copeland - Same as Lena
Police girls - Tbh, I've recruited them only once, and only one of them. Never tried as pornstar, but they're cheap and good security.

Put them on camshows until you can afford to hire high ranking/skill models. Early on, photoshoots/webcams are your main money makers until you establish your own websites/buy them from competition and hire high quality models. If you shoot the scene and put them back on webcams or do photoshoot contracts, they'll earn less money/reputation since they're "tainted"

See this is the kinda shit that a wiki would be great for. For a game with 5 years of development and numerous balancing changes to its name and such a learning curve, it's baffling to me it doesn't have one. I've seen friggin' wikis for games that had like 3 locations with a single option in each. This thread does a really bad job at figuring this shit out because every time I searched in it almost all results were from 2018 or 2019 and obviously a lot changed since (I hope?).

There is a bunch of locations in the game like stables or sauna where only low level girl spawns. Not the lowest like in the streets but they are still pretty useless and time-drenching. Will it be a good idea to implement into the game some mechanics to upgrade such places or to have some temporary buffs. For example some rally event during which population and goodness of girls in stables temporary increasing. Coz now there is just no point to visit such locations.

i've made an ingame tutorial for the next version, but again only up to some point.

Have a related question about this: what about the strip club ? It seems to have a slightly higher daily depravity gain than for camshows (0.8 vs 0.7, I think) but they have similar depravity requirements so I'm not sure if it "taints" models.

Also unsure if it's a bigger money maker than camshows; it's certainly a very expensive initial investment @ 350k$ but I'm wondering how best to distribute my employees to maximize the income.

Like mbmb said, it's not primary money making operation, but if you want it to get good amount of money, I'd suggest you do couple of strategies. First, is to raise model's depravity if you want her to become pornstar. It's very quick way. Second, if you want to leave it alone and have it as a passive money making business, look for girls who are 70,80+ beauty and high potential, or just high level models with high stats. Also, look for a girls that have certain traits like "Dancing Queen" which boosts clubs income. Don't forget to train your strippers. Send to training at least 1 model per week. Don't forget to assign marketing specialist to your strip club to make sure it gains popularity. Process is quite long, but in the end, having a lot of high tier models with certain traits will grant you high income. Good huntin'

A couple of issues from last public release to report, just in case they haven't been fixed yet for the new release:
- in the yoga girl recruitment quest, you meet another girl that can be recruited if you have a high enough charisma (2nd check, after scene). If you don't actually meet the requirement and select this option anyway, the game will hang.
- when you have a free room and want to shoot a scene directly (not scheduled) from the girl's bio page, nothing happens if you have the skip checkbox ticked. Amateur scenes can work or otherwise, you have to go to the actual scene.

Is it worth getting the Beauty salon before the Night Club?
Am I right in saying treatment is free for the MC only? If so, what is the benefit in this if the MC is male?

Edit:Ah OK I've realised the discount rate. Is the beauty investment in a model worth it no matter the cost? I say this because I gave full package treatment to early game models and ran a loss. It may well have been to other factors as I've yet to test this again.

you wont get any fireworks when reaching max rep i'll tell you that. endgame isnt really finished.
as for the nc vs salon, it really depends whats your style.
do you need another place to boost depravity of chicks?
or do you want to save some cash when sending chicks to a beauty salon.

most of those additional properties are flexing. you buy them coz you can. none are primary money makers and you can get by without them.
this is for v0.84:
-night club, you'll earn some money when it gets popular, you can use it in casting negotiations and you'll encounter rival pornstars there
-strip club, mostly for raising depravity
-carwash, well you get it for free and it's a good way early on for raising depravity
-beauty center - everything you do related to it is half price (soon you'll be able to assign masseuses )
