I really want to enjoy this game but I keep having to restart because I keep getting into crippling debt in a couple months every time. The developer seriously needs to overhaul the tutorial/guide. Does anyone have any tips?

Don't do porn. Invest in a photo studio and make a modeling agency. You might think I'm trying to be funny here, but I'm dead ass serious. Get some models. Do photoshoots (ignore model requested jobs). Get bread. Use said bread to fund your porn. Establish what kind of brand you'll have, meaning film and publish the same types of scenes, and you'll be on your way. Photoshoots are far more lucrative than porn until you get some famous pornstars on the roster and start stacking bonuses. (Trends, traits, and other modifiers like "consistency". For example, filming an anal scene with a white blonde model that has the anal queen trait when anal scenes and blonde/white models are trending and all you publish are anal scenes with white models.)

Oh yeah! Early on, look for models with the adventurous trait. If you come across one with adventurous and strike-a-pose, snag that bitch like Trump grabbin pussy. Hey, he said it, not me. I digress, adventurous models won't be poached by rival agencies so you don't have to sign them. Effectively they're "loyal" unless the mechanics of the trait is changed in a later update. Strike-a-pose makes models earn more from photoshoots. Once you start doing photoshoot jobs some have a chance to spawn a model, all spawn with strike-a-pose and a chance for other traits. It's a good way to get a model with both traits.

(Not-so-)Fun fact, I couldn't find in the v084b source any way Strike a pose interacts with photo contract rewards, other than slightly boosting model level (~0.16 extra levels). I'm convinced this perk does almost nothing.
In fact, the desire to discover how, if at all, this perk works was one of the reasons I decompiled the game.

Is it possible that they only show up when I'm playing a male character? I'm currently playing with a female character and they just won't show up... I bought the beauty salon, I've reached reputation level 4, my mansion & office are 4/4 and I still can't find them.

While they're slightly trickier to find than other characters (goddamn day-of-week requirement, and I think it's bugged and they appear on different days than they claim to), yes, they actually are exclusive to male MCs.
Paula Anderson from the beach is men-only, too, and there are some men that you can only encounter while playing as a woman. And maybe few more, I haven't really studied it.,

Yikes. So, depravity doesn't seem to matter. Traits definitely do.
In general, you have to make sure she makes a lot of money, not you. That means having high camshows marketing score and financial PA bonus. You need to have enough web admins. On top of that, some of the models are better predisposed to making money than others, based on their traits.

So, to be more specific, camgirl's happiness is a function of:
1) Camgirl's earnings expectations. In general, the more expensive getting the model to shoot porn is, the more she wants to earn.
2) Camgirl's actual earnings. Things listed above affect it, as some additional factors on top of that.
3) Whether the model's on a contract, though this does not affect displayed happiness in the camgirl tab, only actual happiness gains and losses.

Truthfully, I'm surprised how deep and complicated this system is - there are plenty interesting, but hidden interactions in it. Unfortunately, some of the factors affect calculations in multiple different steps, and so any attempt at describing impact of any single element is pointless.

I have found a bug. The game crashed every time I spent time, at noon. The problem? A scheduled production that had no actress (and I don't remember who she was, or why she wasn't there). I cancelled the production and can finally continue playing my game. I hope this is helpful to someone.

all this information should be given to the player. frankly its bad design to have all this happen "under the hood" and the player has no way of knowing what is happening.
in fact seems like alot of system interactions are obtuse and poorly conveyed to the player. for instance im playing on the easiest difficulty and i still have the 20% consistency penalty on scenes and i dont know what it is, why does it appear and how can i play around it. when people also reported this issue, dev just said to adjust difficulty and it should sort itself. well ... it didnt.

Consistency is actually one of the easier mechanics to understand, but I get what you mean because it's not really explained. It's easy to pick up on though if you play a certain way. Anyway, consistency is, as mbmb described it (I think), your brand. I get that you might want to go out and shoot a wide variety of porn, but that will kill your consistency. Pick like one or two basic things (solo, boy-girl, girl-girl, ethnicity, hair, bust size, etc) and focus on that. If you need to branch out to fulfill a job request, cool. But 90% or so of the porn you shoot should be "on brand" in order to keep consistency at 20%, which is an insane boost (or debuff).

For example. I start out shooting solo and boy-girl scenes (I play as a male btw). Once I start building fame/fans, I pretty much leave solo alone (you can shoot more than one kind of scene but you have to consistently shoot those scenes) but I'll slowly add a tag to boy-girl scenes over time until I get more market share and build the brand I want. Eventually my brand will be solo + masturbation and boy-girl+blowjob+creampie and sometimes other tags to fulfill job requests. But all my solo vids will have the masturbation tag and all my boy girl vids will have the blowjob and creampie tags. That's how you build your brand and maximize consistency. You could start with all the tags you want, but I like the slow burn. This game helps me think about my game. I digress, hope that helps!

that does not make much sense since for the most part i go for the boy-girl scenes, with all tags selected pre shoot being the same. when i branch out of that is when i do make more money per scene
and if consistency is factored by each individual variable (tit size, age, ethnicity, scene type, and so on) then you either play with an army of clones to have all the variables be the same across all actresses (which doesnt seem very fun to spam the same thing over and over imo) or risk driving your business into the ground

EDIT: thinking about it if the idea for consistency is to promote a specialized type of brand for the player to go for, then the dev should take the opposite approach. Instead of debuffing scenes for (and penalizing) people who like to branch out, the game should only reward players who stick to their genre by giving their scene publishing bonuses. In fact if you stick to a few niches you are consciously restricting yourself, and by having bonuses to your publishing for being consistent could be a way to mitigate that

No, you want your consistency to stay at +20%. It starts at 0 and either raises or lowers depending on the vids you shoot.

Like I said, around 90% of the porn you shoot, completely made up # but the point is most of it, needs to be on brand. My consistency stays at +20%. It dips sometimes when I do special requests but usually not by much because I simply add whatever tag is requested to what I normally do. It does dip though, because that still isn't on brand. Honestly though, I don't really worry about job requests that don't fit my models and I instead focus on stacking bonuses. You can pull $100k for publishing a video with the right bonuses stacked. Between that and photomodels, which are far easier to fulfill jobs for, it's easy to make bank once you get the hang of it.

To be fair, everything about this system makes perfect sense. Sure, interactions are kinda arbitrary (For example, Perfect Tits/Ass and Beautiful traits imho should have extra effect on girls income, but they only have indirect impact), but in the end they all fit the theme well.
As for consistency, I posted a giant writeup on it here (the next few posts might be of interest to you, too), but long story short, if you go over 50 published movies in 70 days the game starts tracking consistency. It penalizes you for having significant variance in model levels, scene popularities AND scene bonus levels.
As the bonus level is hard to control (as it changes based on traits, scene types, trending bonuses, consistency level itself...), and it has significant impact in the calculations, it almost inevitably leads to problems with consistency. And, mind you, this system really IS obtuse. I don't find cam girls mechanics to be bad. Consistency, the way it's implemented in v084b at least, IMHO is.
