Hostage Code The Illusion Of Choice:
This is a particular way of coding a game that irritates the hell out of me. It is when the choices in the game are not so much about "What do you want to do?" instead they are more about "What did the developer say is the correct answer here?"
I'll make up a short game, and give an example of how the code would go in such a game~
Example:
You start the game. Are you 18? yes... Looks like you are a dude in this game. Alright, input name. You are in bed and got a boner. Okay... Getting up walking down a hallway... and menu. Option 1 = take a shower. Option 2 = skip it and go for breakfast.
So you skip and go to breakfast. This was an incorrect choice, and your whole world just got fucked up. You are not getting the sex scene later on and the wife won't kiss you at breakfast... So back it up...
You take the shower... Joy, you get to see some man ass, and you brush your teeth so your breath is fresh now! Alright!
You land a kiss with the wife at the breakfast scene this time!
On with your day. You get in your car... drive to work. On the way to work you hit a red light. A homeless man walks up to the window of your car, and asks "Got any change?" Menu: "Drive off" or "Give him some change".
You feel like a nice guy today. You give him some change. This was an incorrect choice. Turns out you will be $1 short of being able to buy flowers later in the day.
So you go to work, and sit at your desk and punch keys blah blah blah day is over.
Driving home you see a flower stand. Menu choice time. "Buy Red Flower", "Buy Pink Flower" or "Buy No Flowers". If you gave the homeless man money you can't buy a flower.
So you get the red flower. This does not impress the wife. She will not do anal because you only got 2 out of 3 hearts this day.
So reload and get that pink flower, and the anal scene of the day is done. That is enough of an example.
You must play exactly how the developer wants you to play to get to the desirable scenes. If you get off that path they have laid down for you even the slightest you will be punished.
