There's a few of the most talented GFXer like Krull, Walg , christoprd ,Raminita , I don't think i have a place in this list.

Well in my opinion your signature need a border(stroke) or you can use rectangle tool , except a border everything looks good on your signature.

hmm aside from the border I think you mean to make it glow. Now you have used to much outer glow especially on the the logo. Now if you going to use outer glow make sure you also play with inner glow. One is hard to use without the other.

I tried to make it blend to the site's theme by using the exact same color, but I'll switch over to using a border if it looks bad

now, that is true, the glow looks a bit off, but I can't do any better since I'm using paint.net
I edited the post with an adjusted version, I slightly moved the zone text and adjusted glow on seperate layers, so it looks consistent

you should start using Photoshop or gimp. They are better than paint
Im pretty sure you can find crack versions of them.
use png always and no jpg cuz you sacrifice quality over size

If is was your first attempt then you did pretty good.

I was bored, started messing around with an older version of Paintshop Pro that I have and tried my first, possibly only, fan signature for a game that I've been playing:



Any tips on improving it would be great. Not using Paintshop Pro is one of them I'm sure! Extracting the character from the in game pictures in PSP was kinda painful.

Ignore all the pesky softwares except Photoshop , If you are not so skilled that,you can improve the quality of your photos in Photoshop, I suggest you to use Topaz Giga Pixel AI program.You can also use it separately or as a plugin in Photoshop, that's all you need.

Thanks for your response Is Photoshop subscription only? I don't think I would use it nearly enough to justify a subscription. Would GIMP be a relatively good alternative?

No problem!, You can Signup in adobe and get trial version of PS and use 30 or 60 days for free, but if you looking for freebies stuff to use check , PicsArt Photo Studio or Adobe lightroom.
