It is hard to adjudicate. I found the scene very rapey, the violence was implied heavily that if you didn't do what she wants, she'd kill you. I went back and found the point where you can reject her, you essentially have to be "no fuck you" from the very moment of her reveal, stab her, and have her completely ignore it. Then afterwards if you reveal what she is to your friend it's game over as she kills you both. I've gotten to the town with her threatening me again, the only reason I'm considering continuing to play is because people are saying it's good.
Can anyone let me know if these arbitrary game-overs continue throughout the game?

Regarding the tags. I've thought for a while that a minor/major tag would be good, considering the complaints about some tags I see in many games, ie if a game has even one scene that is vaguely NTR some people won't play the game. Other tags I've specifically played a game for and found it was one scene.

But honestly completely disregarding any constructive criticsm or suggestions in the last dozen posts in this thread as a developer and deciding to be butthurt about a specific part of it is kind of a weak move.

But be like that if it helps you cope, go ahead, knock yourself out.
To be fair, you're not giving constructive criticism but requesting changes to or the removal of content that you don't like. I personally love the Lady Wolf scene as a narrative point and is what got me interested in the story (its the hook, so I hope so), and while the changes you want would improve the game for you, they would lessen the game for me (one man's trash and all that). The things that can be considered constructive, like the major/minor tag system, are out of the developer's control, and should be directed at F95 itself. so there's no point in getting angry at them for that.

We understand the non-con aspect of this scene can be damaging for some people, that's why we recently added the stabbing opt-out. It's the first dialogue choice and should be pretty obvious, but maybe we should add more options to stab her later if you change your mind? Like others have said, having any kind of warning would ruin this twist that establishes Lady Wolf's character, so we don't plan to change the prologue much at this point.

Those game over are pretty much all in the prologue (except when you lose in combat of course). We plan to have an actual fight with LW if you reveal her identity to Sa'id, instead of a boring game over like now.

SO I am a bit confused, do I need the walkthrough if I don't have the full game? I was following quest in order but the 2nd quest after the prologue requires a quest that is patron only.
You can tell which quest are patreon only in the "requirements" part of the walkthough. All companions first quests are free, and quite a few others.

Yeah right, disregard -everything- I said and just focus on that one bit that hurt your feelings.
Completely deny even the slightest possibility that the first writing your team has done might NOT have been their best, and has since improved.
Deny even the slightest possibility that someone, at some point, wanted an extra edgy and dramatic intro for the attention, or had a lack of better ideas than rape.

I've mentioned that other content is well written in the same fucking post.

Violence, torture, mature content in general doesn't equal bad writing. But some things do. And the general trend of adding -some- kind of rape or at least suggested rape because otherwise your series, film or game isn't dark enough, is definitely.... questionable to say the least, and not a testament to quality writing.

But honestly completely disregarding any constructive criticsm or suggestions in the last dozen posts in this thread as a developer and deciding to be butthurt about a specific part of it is kind of a weak move.

So first and foremost, the current narrative through is where it will remain. But to addend what Deck said, in the narrative department, the scene will not be changing further beyond grammatical and proofreading. There will be a complete NSFW-filtered version of the game, though, which will not depict the scene itself.

Even in that version, the scene will have played out the same, the effects will be defined and the narrative will move forward as if the scene happened, though again it won't be depicted in that SFW version of the game.

It is how it is. The Main Character lived through that experience, he is helpless against her, and is uncertain if anyone may or may not be her at any time. It is why he is remaining under heel. Redic is either a survivor of a traumatic event, a man who was laid low after fighting back and shown he is helpless, or a man who was into it but showed full well that it was not for him and that LW is going to use him for her benefit.

Is it dark? Yes. Can you make it less dark by being a more willing Redic? Mildy. Can you stab her and stop the scene fullstop? Yes.

Might you be a bit too afraid that she'll rip you to pieces if you resist her... yeah, those feelings are appropriate to that situation. And while I empathize with you, having gone through CSA myself as a child in which I defended myself, I will not be removing this narrative theme from the game.

Maybe instead of changing it, you can add something to it.
Adding the ability to stab her is a good alternative, but what if we could do something more... subtle?
For example, throughout the prologue you can find hints that Lady Wolf isn't who she says she is (the lock she busted, her reaction to you killing the large amount of bandits at the entrance, her taking the book you found). So what if the third option isn't to oppose her, but to impress her?

For example, in that situation instead of submitting or attacking, you show her how perceptive and cunning you are.
So if you noticed all these things, and acted in certain ways, this could culminate in that scene as more of a persuasion moment from games like fallout new Vegas.
My favorite moments from that game were the dialogue choices you had in confrontations,
the one against Launius, Ulysses, Joshua Graham and the big MT scientists. Specifically Ulysses if you find his tapes, where you need to remember what he said in them in order to persuade him.

Something like that could be a way to get the scene without it being too forceful; You look at the busted lock, you lie to Sa'id and say that you broke the lock instead, you fight the bandits at the entrance and maybe make other choices, and all of those can add points in an invisible meter that when achieved unlock a dialogue option in Lady Wolfs scene, in that dialogue you have to say the correct things to impress her. If you fail to impress her, you continue as you normally would. But if you succeed?
You get an alternative's scene where instead of being a bit forceful, she's more suggestive then dominant about it, but she lets you opt out if you don't want to.

You're still forced to work for her, but she might respect you a bit more if you continue the scene with her.

That's just my two cents about it, still a great scene to me.

Something like that might work but the reason Clementine does what she does is because Redic was seeing through her. Which is extraordinarily rare for her, but Redic didn't/couldn't understand the full breadth of it. Just something was off about Clementine. So the reason she did what she did, so fast, was because she was in fact impressed and saw through Redci's suspicion.

Which is another element of... yes, Redic plays the game and plays it well, but he is the Rook/Bishop while Lady Wolf is the grandmaster who controls the game... though I can take that suggestion into consideration. She is looking to put him into place and test him and his character to see if she is worth engineering/working with.

Sa'id failed her test, Redic is the next best thing.

I think with the second scene and the rest ofthe content I think it's shown she gives him a lot of leash. She stays mostly out of his business otherwise.

Right, but impressing her in what way?

There is something I noticed about Lady Wolf, she is a master at strategic thinking and manipulation, but is vulnerable to blunt guesswork.
Specifically, When Redic makes an educated guess and "hovers over target", Lady Wolf has a harder time concealing her reactions. For example, when asking her why she would need Moira's support against Kimber, trying to extract information from her fails, but making a correct educated guess actually helps Redic catch something from her reaction.

Or
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

So if Redic takes her by surprise like that, and impresses her more than she expected, and show that he is willing to be at least somewhat receptive to her, it might be possible for her to decide to take a different approach to Redic. So she might try something more subtle then simple submission In order to increase the chance of him wanting to work for her of his own desire, and to reduce the chance of him wanting quit working for her if she viewed him as a possible and potential asset.

After all, even a trained dog might bite the hand that feeds if bad treatment is all he knows.

I think with the second scene and the rest ofthe content I think it's shown she gives him a lot of leash. She stays mostly out of his business otherwise.
I think this also shows' how her opinion of Redic changes throughout the story.
The more Redic achieves, the more he impresses her. And this changes the way she treats him, from a tool to a potential partner. That's why I suggested that idea, to show the potential "planting of the seed" (Giggity) for that path.
Because honestly, there is a lot more to Lady Wolf that nobody sees. And I'd like to some more stuff like that to be in the story, since she's a pretty interesting character when you dig deeper in it.

If you ever come back with any desire to have a productive conversation, you should consider that the quality of the writing and the content of the message are two fundamentally different dimensions. This is a situation where you don't like the message, and that is fair and fine, you don't need to play the game if you don't like it. Calling it shit for that reason alone though is just lazy and serves as an insult to everyone that does like it.

First of all, thank you for coming back and having an actual conversation with me. I know how it can feel when someone picks holes in things you love, and I've snapped before myself too, I'm no innocent, and I do have anger issues. In addition, due to a few neurodiverse diagnosed conditions, I am pretty much always too direct, too blunt, and prolly not as respectful as I should be. Since this is, at the end of the day, a ( Swashbuckling, yarrr! ) porn forum, I figured it's not the worst place to NOT sugarcoat your words.

I want to make clear that I am NOT asking you to remove anything. While I stand by that too many writers of series, movies, comics, games... use rape as "story vehicle" these days, and finding no other way of having your audience understand traumatic situations DOES signal lacking writing skills - To me. And yes, I write myself.

Now to get back to the point that I am NOT asking you to outright remove anything - What I am doing, is making you very aware of that this content, this scene, makes some of your audience uncomfortable ( And not the comfortably uncomfortable kind ), and caught them by surprise. This is not good. In ANY way. Ever. UNLESS you are intentionally playing this for pure shock value, but this is NOT that kind of game, is it? And even then, media made purely for shock factor usually notifies the audience beforehand...

But enough blabbering on, here is the main course:

I don't demand you remove anything. It is not my place, it is not my call, and I'm personally not even bothered by the scene, or rape content in general. I don't specifically seek it out but I'm not affected by it, like I am not affected by pretty much anything these days, numbness levels are off the charts. No, that's probably not healthy. But it's part of my disorders.

But I think you SHOULD pay attention to the fact that this does make some of your audience very uncomfortable, and act accordingly. Please remember, I am NOT the person that brought this topic up - I am merely adding to the discussion in favour of people that ARE bothered by it, because, like you, I do sympathise with SA survivors very much.

What I WOULD like to happen, are one or all of these things:

I. General disclaimer at the start of the game: This game does contain ONE ( Or two, or a few ) potential scene of sexual assault. Please note these instances are very rare, and are NOT the main focus of our game, and story.

Why: This would not spoil the plot-twist, because it doesn't warn you right before the scene. But it WOULD prepare anyone who has issues with things like this to either make sure they're in a good place before they play, or at least not be surprised when it happens. I personally think this is the LEAST you could/should do.

II. Add the rape ( And gay ) tag to the game.

Why: As I hopefully made clear, I am not opposed to "questionable" content by principle. But I am opposed to not calling a spade a spade. There IS one case of sexual assault in your game, which is, arguably, not that easy to see coming and/or avoid. ( Stabbing is quite an extreme opposite reaction ). So add the fucking rape/sexual assault tag. No matter if it may deter some people or any other consequences.

Own up to it. Your team wrote this, your team worked on it, your team decided to have it, to be okay with this in your game. Now be upfront to your audience and call a spade a damn spade. Add the tag(s).

III. You go the route surprisingly many games with sexual content go - Let people decide what fetishes they want to see/encounter at the VERY START of the game.
Yeah, I know, gotta write something that'll deliver your plot twist and point without descriptive sexual assault if you go down that path. But if your writers ARE good writers ( And I said before that I find most parts of the game well written ), they will find a way to do that without compromising your story. So if you ARE confident in your teams abilities, let them best that challenge.

This is by far the most work, absolutely. But it would also be the most accommodating way to handle it.

"Do you want to see or hide SA content in the game?" YES/NO

Boom. You're golden. Nobody can complain because if they end up bothered by anything, THEY chose to see it, and it's on them.

You could choose any of these ways to solve the issue of scaring/disregarding/harming players that are sensitive to this content. You could also do all of them. Up to you really. Obviously, you could also tell me to go fuck myself and move on. I'll be fine. I'm not arguing this for my own sake.

But enough blabbering on, here is the main course:
There are many wrong things that you said in this post, but lets start with the good.

I think it's actually a good idea to put a disclaimer at the start of the game.
Something like; "Disclaimer: this game contains real world themes such as sex, violence , drug use, rape etc.".
That way they don't have to censor or change anything while giving people a heads up so they can make the story they want.

But the rest of it? That's crossing a line.

First:
Constructive criticism and respectable suggestions are a necessity in the writing process. But what you have been writing is neither constructive nor respectable. What you have been writing is essentially a list of demands, ones that if not met would describe this games writing, in your own words, as "shit".
It is their choice what subjects they want to cover in their game and how they want to cover it. And you know what? Those themes can actually be good writing material. After all, the world can be cruel sometimes, and we don't always have control over what we want. And yes, rape is one of them. It being an allegory in this story for being powerless, lacking freedom and having no control. Because sometimes we get dealt a bad hand of cards, and no matter how much we hate it, we have to play them. Or fold.

Second:
The method they make this game is also their choice, if they want to make a game without giving the choice to remove types or themes then its perfectly reasonable. Hell, to some it's better this way. And saying they have crappy writers if they don't want to do it this way is inappropriate.
Just because other developers choose to do this doesn't mean that this is the way that it must be. They are entitled to their choice of how they want to make this game.

Third:
If they don't believe that these tags represents their game, then they don't have to add it. If at some point they decide to add more scenes like this, then adding it may be necessary. Until then, discussing the subject is fine. Within reason.
And the way you have been phrasing yourself has not been reasonable. You can make requests or suggestions, not demands.
It is not your game to decide how it's made.

This leads me to my last point.
The way you have been acting is not ok.
You have been aggressive and overly critical despite the fact they are willing to have this discussion with you.
I don't know what you've been through, and you don't know what I've been through either. But in my opinion, we are all beholden to certain rules and standards.

Ones that you have not been maintaining.

Don't believe me?

This is not appropriate behavior. doesn't matter if this is a porn site or some other part of the internet, you don't treat people this way.
Normally I would report this post, but I want to give you a chance to correct this.
I believe you should have the right to voice your opinion, but not like this.
Other wise people would relegate this post and your intent to spite and anger. Not to that of good intentions, and a desire to see things improve.

I stand by if a writer is unable to find alternative ways of delivering a plot twist, a point, a vital moment, than pretty much showing the audience a very direct drawing/picture of it, the writer is, quite frankly, shit at writing.
I'm sorry, but in a setting and a game that explores the darkness of murder, slavery, loss of agency, and war... why, why is this one thing absolutely and completely verboten and instantly makes you a "shit writer." The Lovely Bones, Wheel of Time, even Alien.

I'm sorry but the moment you say this your criticism is very hard to buy into or even consider. It means your well is poisoned to the point you cannot FATHOM people using these themes or exploring them in literature as being valid.

General disclaimer at the start of the game
This is something we'll need to include, there are content filters etc on steam and such and we have an 18+ splash that will need to have some EULA style warnings.

Yeah, I know, gotta write something that'll deliver your plot twist and point without descriptive sexual assault if you go down that path. But if your writers ARE good writers ( And I said before that I find most parts of the game well written ), they will find a way to do that without compromising your story.
I am the writing lead, and while there are ways I can do this entire game without it. I don't want to. Because they are all weaker and not congruent with any of the characters. They all introduce the wrong form of a vulnerable state. Already stated there will be a SFW version of the game which will still canonically accept this is the world state.

We already give a HARD out to the scene which is appropriate. And a soft out where he is consenting. These are adequate, full stop. Sorry if this doesn't seem like it's appropriate or the way for us to go forward with this and our audience, but it is how we choose to tackle this and I believe in challenging your audience as well as yourself.

This is just like in life, you never know when you are in that situation... but almost invariably outcomes with defense are better. The New England medical journal published a study by Senn which proved that in over 2/3rds the cohort that was educated on defense and put up defense in these situations has better outcomes (the assaulters backed off/fled, etc). Lady Wolf is an entity that could have rent Redic to ribbons. But even she on seeing this act, backed away.

Redic dropped his guards in a very realistic way to a predator. There are three VERY realistic paths forward considering his character and past. There VERY adequate reactions for the player.

I can respect wanting to protect people who might be severely affected for sure, and lessening harm. But there's a point this can go too far and get into the realm of just ridiculousness. There will be a EULA with the warning this is a potentiality though avoidable.
Well, that's reasonable. I actually really appreciate you putting in the effort to research statistics to supplement your storytelling, correlating to real life statistics and events. That's an unironic applause from me.

As I said, if you put something like a disclaimer or EULA, I'm completely fine with the content as is. While I -personally- don't feel the other alternatives that have been mentioned are getting into the realm of ridiculousness, that's just a difference in opinion, and okay. Here's hoping the EULA will arrive sooner rather than later, but hey, that's not for me decide. I'm just glad and relieved it's coming at all.
Also, people who complained about Verona being too dominant and that women shouldn't talk down or take the lead... lol.
Our game, people were extremely upset at PFF:A for being too feminist.
Wait what... you gotta be kidding me. Lol. I think I understand a little better now why you're probably pretty tired of discussions like this, no matter which direction they take. :HideThePain:

Now that the serious subject seems to be dealt with, let me use this opportunity to actually tell you how fucking GOOD the diversity among the characters in your game is. And I'm not only talking personality, but also bodytypes.

Too many games have just that one body type for absolutely everyone, the typical "Huge boobies with slim waist and big booty", like, the usual porn ideal most people go for ( I guess? ).

Here, we have it all. Lady Wolf, as first example due to her being part of the last discussion, does not fit that type at all, neither is it flat chested loli territority. No, she's fit, a little delicate but strong, and doesn't have oversized honkers attached to her frame just cause, no, she has a very appropiate and fitting chest to match the rest of her bodytype.

Then we have overall fluffy types where everything is soft and round, we got average, death by snu-snu levels of buff musclegirls, shortstacks, aggressive "I know what I want and Imma FUCK you" types, submissive types, pure doms, very casual fun types of sex, sensual and even romantic encounters, etc. etc.

It's really all very varied.
So you absolutely deserve some serious praise for that. (y)
All I needed to see :ROFLMAO:
I get where you're coming from, and while Reddit can be a cesspool of ridiculous circlejerks, conspiracy theories and downright awful takes, there are SOME nuggets of gold buried, if you're able to dig them up. I mean it's still better than mentioning Twitter or Facebook, right?
So uh... porn game? Plap-plap'ing Lady Wolf's ass? I'm in. Who's in?
Yes-Yes, plap-plap Lady Wolf but first sniff-sniff some warpstone powder, then Skaven is ready to raid-raid booty.

Yeah... there will always be people who are unsatisfied by something.
The best thing i can suggest is to make a game with quality.

I think Baulder's Gate 3 proves this.

There will always be people who will be unsatisfied, but everyone loves quality (even people who complain).

Tried the game out, and I'm honestly so impressed by everything I've seen that I think I'll hold off on playing it until it's finished.

It's really fucking good, I love seeing that Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 UI, and the art is heckin' beautiful!

It's gonna suck to wait, but I definitely wanna experience this game at its full potential.

FWIW, the game was updated from Unity 2019.x to 2021.3.12. So my PatreonPatch (or any BepInEx plugins) won't work until are ironed out. It might take a while though and the plugin may need to be rewritten since the project was restructured.
TL;DR: For now, directly patching the assembly is easier.

This is something we'll need to include, there are content filters etc on steam and such and we have an 18+ splash that will need to have some EULA style warnings.

Lol you are getting pummeled too much for this. I picked up the game not too long ago, and I have to say that the beginning was one of the most intriguing parts, and set the tone wonderfully. While I am somewhat biased because I am mostly indifferent to rape in media, the fact that this is the only shapeshifting demon you see (or so I think, I am not so far along) and is also the only character to rape the main character (Again, so I think), and furthermore is the only character that you cannot even fight before being killed by her, it sets this character apart in such an oppressive and mysterious way that I really liked. When leaving the encounter, I felt very weak and slightly unsettled, and these feelings aged very well as I saw that there was almost no supernatural element for most of the game up until the point I'm at. She was the only demon, and there doesn't seem to be an angel to oppose her, so I am always intrigued by the question of why the fuck she exists. All this comes together in a very interesting way where I both dread and love the fact that I will have to meet her again, and I won't know what she is capable of, what she wants, or even what she totally is.

I completely understand the irony of the fact that I am leaving an entire critique of a porn game when I could be doing something that makes the ghosts of my ancestors proud like fuckin reading Shakespeare or something lmao, but I cannot discriminate over something done well, and I think that this beginning forced sex scene worked very well in the context of the whole game, especially since its never used again (up until you meet her again, I imagine.) Long story short, she is a demon in a world that does not recognize demons, she is an abuser of the main character in a world that does not abuse main characters, and she is a remarkably powerful entity in a world of enemies who are not powerful.

I personally enjoyed the non con. Well no I didn't enjoy it I thought it was super creepy actually, but I liked the way it changed the atmosphere and the way I look at the world building.
There's this genre of games I call Lewd Unlockers, where a male protag just wades through as much pussy and ass as you can click yes to. Now I'm not knocking those games, they're fast and easy and you get to see some content.
But what the non con did for me was not so much add to the game as it added to the way I think about this game. A sort of meta world building. When that happened I knew "oh ok, so we're not so safe here. This is a dev that doesn't want us to think of this as a happy-go-stupid-fuccboi-goes-manwhoring game."
A direct result was I had an easier time immersing myself.
