So first and foremost, the current narrative through is where it will remain. But to addend what Deck said, in the narrative department, the scene will not be changing further beyond grammatical and proofreading. There will be a complete NSFW-filtered version of the game, though, which will not depict the scene itself.
Even in that version, the scene will have played out the same, the effects will be defined and the narrative will move forward as if the scene happened, though again it won't be depicted in that SFW version of the game.
It is how it is. The Main Character lived through that experience, he is helpless against her, and is uncertain if anyone may or may not be her at any time. It is why he is remaining under heel. Redic is either a survivor of a traumatic event, a man who was laid low after fighting back and shown he is helpless, or a man who was into it but showed full well that it was not for him and that LW is going to use him for her benefit.
Is it dark? Yes. Can you make it less dark by being a more willing Redic? Mildy. Can you stab her and stop the scene fullstop? Yes.
Might you be a bit too afraid that she'll rip you to pieces if you resist her... yeah, those feelings are appropriate to that situation. And while I empathize with you, having gone through CSA myself as a child in which I defended myself, I will not be removing this narrative theme from the game.
First of all, thank you for coming back and having an actual conversation with me. I know how it can feel when someone picks holes in things you love, and I've snapped before myself too, I'm no innocent, and I do have anger issues. In addition, due to a few neurodiverse diagnosed conditions, I am pretty much always too direct, too blunt, and prolly not as respectful as I should be. Since this is, at the end of the day, a ( Swashbuckling, yarrr! ) porn forum, I figured it's not the worst place to NOT sugarcoat your words.
I want to make clear that I am NOT asking you to remove anything. While I stand by that too many writers of series, movies, comics, games... use rape as "story vehicle" these days, and finding no other way of having your audience understand traumatic situations DOES signal lacking writing skills - To me. And yes, I write myself.
Now to get back to the point that I am NOT asking you to outright remove anything - What I am doing, is making you very aware of that this content, this scene, makes some of your audience uncomfortable ( And not the comfortably uncomfortable kind ), and caught them by surprise. This is not good. In ANY way. Ever. UNLESS you are intentionally playing this for pure shock value, but this is NOT that kind of game, is it? And even then, media made purely for shock factor usually notifies the audience beforehand...
But enough blabbering on, here is the main course:
I don't demand you remove anything. It is not my place, it is not my call, and I'm personally not even bothered by the scene, or rape content in general. I don't specifically seek it out but I'm not affected by it, like I am not affected by pretty much anything these days, numbness levels are off the charts. No, that's probably not healthy. But it's part of my disorders.
But I think you SHOULD pay attention to the fact that this does make some of your audience very uncomfortable, and act accordingly. Please remember, I am NOT the person that brought this topic up - I am merely adding to the discussion in favour of people that ARE bothered by it, because, like you, I do sympathise with SA survivors very much.
What I WOULD like to happen, are one or all of these things:
I. General disclaimer at the start of the game: This game does contain ONE ( Or two, or a few ) potential scene of sexual assault. Please note these instances are very rare, and are NOT the main focus of our game, and story.
Why: This would not spoil the plot-twist, because it doesn't warn you right before the scene. But it WOULD prepare anyone who has issues with things like this to either make sure they're in a good place before they play, or at least not be surprised when it happens. I personally think this is the LEAST you could/should do.
II. Add the rape ( And gay ) tag to the game.
Why: As I hopefully made clear, I am not opposed to "questionable" content by principle. But I am opposed to not calling a spade a spade. There IS one case of sexual assault in your game, which is, arguably, not that easy to see coming and/or avoid. ( Stabbing is quite an extreme opposite reaction ). So add the
fucking rape/sexual assault tag. No matter if it may deter some people or any other consequences.
Own up to it. Your team wrote this, your team worked on it, your team decided to have it, to be okay with this in your game. Now be upfront to your audience and call a spade a damn spade.
Add the tag(s).
III. You go the route surprisingly many games with sexual content go - Let people decide what fetishes they want to see/encounter at the VERY START of the game.
Yeah, I know, gotta write something that'll deliver your plot twist and point without descriptive sexual assault if you go down that path. But if your writers ARE good writers ( And I said before that I find most parts of the game well written ), they will find a way to do that without compromising your story. So if you ARE confident in your teams abilities, let them best that challenge.
This is by far the most work, absolutely. But it would also be the most accommodating way to handle it.
"Do you want to see or hide SA content in the game?" YES/NO
Boom. You're golden. Nobody can complain because if they end up bothered by anything, THEY chose to see it, and it's on them.
You could choose any of these ways to solve the issue of scaring/disregarding/harming players that are sensitive to this content. You could also do all of them. Up to you really. Obviously, you could also tell me to go fuck myself and move on. I'll be fine. I'm not arguing this for my own sake.
To be fair, you're not giving constructive criticism but requesting changes to or the removal of content that you don't like. I personally love the Lady Wolf scene as a narrative point and is what got me interested in the story (its the hook, so I hope so), and while the changes you want would improve the game for you, they would lessen the game for me (one man's trash and all that). The things that can be considered constructive, like the major/minor tag system, are out of the developer's control, and should be directed at F95 itself. so there's no point in getting angry at them for that.
If you ever come back with any desire to have a productive conversation, you should consider that the quality of the writing and the content of the message are two fundamentally different dimensions. This is a situation where you don't like the message, and that is fair and fine, you don't need to play the game if you don't like it. Calling it shit for that reason alone though is just lazy and serves as an insult to everyone that does like it.
Whining about not being listened to in a forum is peak internet goblin territory. If that is all you have to contribute, please let the door hit your ass on the way out.
