There are some still of course and a market, but the market is moving more and more to people wanting a full on game or at the least games that offer more than previous content light entries. I think it's a good thing in general and to really hit a success you either need to exploit some niche and amp it up or deliver a full on quality entry.Im not saying you should, I always liked the gameplay of your game. I just think its a little ridiculous to say that model is obsolete when plenty of the big names, and up and comers still use it extensively.
Haha yeah, there are a few games like that where I get wrapped up with everything. We do listen to people here too BUT we at the same time we won't completely drop our vision or such of course. There's a lot to learn from what people who play/consume your content but at the same time sometimes people don't fully grasp why they like something. That's why Star Wars Galaxies tanked... the team listened very, very, very closely to what players THOUGHT they wanted and it ended up breaking the game completely. Turned out the fact Jedi was VERY hard to get was part of the fun and forced people to diversify and do other things.Honestly I wouldn't listen too hard to many people, I for one thoroughly enjoy porn games that are ACTUAL GAMES. I've had my fair share of hentai RPGs and others that I wouldn't call games but it's so boring.
Like what is the real point of having it a 'game' when there isn't really much game involved, I agree that it's always a give and take for either side. But honestly if people just want the porn side of things there's ample amounts all over the internet to cater to that. Same cane be said for games that are actual games as well.
Often I forget about the porn side and finish the whole damn game before I remember why I started in the first place and I really enjoy that.
I'm a dirty pirate most of the time but I appreciate the effort involved and understand part of the process of the whole thing.
And yes, some design ideas and overall type of games are just not that great for some people. Exact same thing can be said for kinks and sexual preferences. Some people just need to pull their heads out of their asses to be honest!
Anyway end of rant. Keep up the great work, I also enjoy you're other art and the comic.
Darkfall Online was killed in a similar fashion. They listened to the hardcore PVP'ers who wanted nothing but more and more PVP, eventually, this pushed out all the crafters and low-end players... which the mid-tier players got bored with nothing to do while building up to the top tier content.
God I miss Darkfall...
Pirates is a tricky topic as a creator. I can see how some creators just drive themselves nruckin fruts over it and it can be a little stressful, but tbh, the most healthy approach is to just not pay it mind and take the good in it you can. That good is player feedback and to learn what people without a stake in the project think about it, people who pirate tend to come at things a bit differently is what I notice about other projects. In general, though, we have a pretty convergent opinion of our game which I think is a pretty positive sign we are on the right track. That and some people just cannot support, financial times are hard af and some people in the best of times just do not have the spare income.
So we here at TDD honestly just appreciate the people who can and do make the step to supporting. We'd need to be pretty awful and greedy people to shame and attack everyone who pirates the game and it'd be just... a waste of time. Even if we could justify the insane amount of time we'd need to devote to fighting piracy, it would be stressful because there's nothing you can do about it in totality. So yeah it's just, be happy with who do support in every way possible. Be it financially, feedback, word of mouth, or people who just enjoy the setting etc.
It's why our lines of communication are pretty active here. We get that feedback and discussion.
1. Battle Mode:Okay, time to vomit some words, probably gonna add more as i play.
1.] During battle mode, would be nice for all room walls to become invisible or erased or something. Had multiple times i had to restart battle because i couldn't see what was where, where i was moving characters, or what and where i was attacking. Either the walls must go down or all characters should have a colored frame clearly seen through the walls like the Fallout VATS or something.
2.] Since it takes a long time between the erotic part of the game and the action part, and there's no plans to shorten the gameplay and adventuring part, the best solution is to make it worth it for the players. Expand and Extend all sex scenes that take a long time to reach such as the Church mission in the beginning if there's no way to increase frequency of them. I don't know of anyone being satisfied with 1 nut irl so at least don't put the MC through such poopooness, it leaves a bad taste in the mouth when you spend over an hour on a mission to get 2 minutes of the "payoff" especially when it starts becoming repetitive.
3.] Let me behead Clementine pls.
I'm content with everything else so far. The writing is some great stuff.
We're definitely looking into methods to improve combat, enemy visibility behind walls and such which you are a light of sight to is definitely up there. If they aren't in your line of sight they should stay obscured. Either outlines or making the walls invisible would be the route to go and yeah for sure we were considering this for a while now. XCOM like system is best system based on LOS to determine if you do or do not see someone.
2. Length of, between H scenes, and such.
I feel our scenes are preeeeeeeetty long personally so I am a little wary of extending them. Unfortunately, due to my own mishandling of time and issues in real life, I didn't get to write Mara's scene personally despite having handled 99% of her character. Normally my scenes are the longest in length but yeah, I almost, want to shorten our normal scenes up a little. Not sure though... but we'll be having revisit scenes and such after.
But in general, Whispering Brook as it stands, is a very long drawn out affair that we need to address later. Much later. Either through a dungeon break where you can duck out and go sell, or a companion talk scene etc... hilariously I did add one of those into the dungeon design. Right at the fucking end! Lol so that was, stupid. It was more the opportunity presented itself for a break there naturally so I took it. We should have implemented a midway dungeon break. It was our first big quest since the prologue, it was a learning process.
3. Beheading Clementing.
I mean... you could make an attempt but uh, unlike Mara, beheading Clementine would be... pretty hazardous.
Thanks a ton! We're trying to improve as we go and this is a learning process as we go. Definitely tons
to learn and improve.
