Well, aboot 8 decades, 87 years. There've been a lot of changes in the political landscape and such but they are still in the same world so there's going to be a lot of similarities and familiar places. Plus the comic takes place in Atlathka, a city to the east of Kaldea.
I just realized i typed "decade" instead of "century", i meant nearly 100 yrs later, haha

Still, i don't think we need anals , let's just focus on creating romantic affections between the MC and the girls !

About the comic series, when i first read it, i thought it took place before the timeline in the game, then i realized it is a decade later, seems that nothing major have changed during the period
The comic is thrilling to read, just like the game. And i like the fact that it's a fantasy game but also presses heavily on political matters , it can practically addresses real life issues

You can't spell Romance without Anal! At least that's how I teach my English lessons.

Thanks a ton! I do a lot of studying when writing to make sure what we're doing is accurate to the times. I generally really love history so I enjoy it quite a bit! We do involve politics but it's more in regards to politics of the setting and the time. So we're considering.

On another neat note we've recieved two video reviews!

I did aboot 30 hours of research on medieval and ancient research and also spoke with a few practicing nurses and such which I've applied in a few places in the game. If you speak to Archibald, the enchanter with a giant vat of caffeine behind him (lol yup, it's a caffeine tincture that's super popular in Kaldea) he actually will speak about antiseptic theory and the differences of things. Many in the world are moving away from the 5 humors and towards septic and sepsis as theory, the medical university on Ohmes being one of the leaders in the world. They even have a compound microscope! It's so rare and took so much time and investment to make it'd be more valuable than a village. Like seriously, they could have commissioned multiple galleons or caravels instead of making it.

It's pretty low power still but they are able to see there are organisms smaller than the human/elven/lizard-folk/ogre/etc eye can possibly see. Some of the most brilliant minds in Ohmes are theorizing that these tiny "minutiae demons" may have something to do with illness but they don't know what or why or how.

This medical research also was applied to forms of birth control being used in the world today, Osh'to's quest, etc.

Then boats... ho-boy just tons of hours into researching boats lol. Unfortunately I was a little late to help design the ship but originally the masts ended at the first floor haha. That issue bugged me so much I managed to get Arbuz to tie the masts all the way to the end and even had some things in the ship moved around. I then explained it away as in the ship itself is unfinished but they had no choice but to sail it since the captain was running out of money on his loan.

OH! AND LOANS! Holy shit don't even get me started on money and commerce! Ancient banks were so much more than people think now. People usually think there were no banks back then and people who do believe they were these big things with labelled bags of money from people lol.

But no they were extremely sophisticated and kept meticulous record of who paid how much money into the bank and they actually did business loans, personal loans, lines of credit etc... people think medieval/ancient persons were dumb. They sure as hell weren't lol, they just had more limited tools to sample and observe the world.

Oh, and porn.

Do you guys plan to release the music out to people and/or Patreon supporters sooner than the game is finished? The music of this game is fantastic, particularly Moment of Solace by Psychix. It's absolutely fantastic. I asked about it once on Discord and was told that it wasn't going to be released out there until the entire game is complete, which saddens me as it will likely be a long long time before that happens.

Is there any route that one could take to obtain even just Moment of Solace as a track alone?

Please give my regards to the guys who manage the music on your team, they've done a fantastic job. Sometimes I just load up the game for the sole purpose of listening to the music haha, it would be lovely to obtain some of it.

Yes, actually. We plan to release our OST on a limited Vinyl only release and lease the record to coffee clatches, shopsp, cafes, and holes. But no chain coffee stores in the hopes that Ackk Studios will notice and recognize us as truly hip and with it developers.

lol but seriously, we will be releasing an OST sometimes, probably distributed via Steam and have the tracks on a youtube channel. I believe Psychix has a few of our songs on his sound cloud right now over here. But yeah we will be only really releasing the sound track later after release as I said on discord haha.

We all kinda have a hand in directing how our music will sounds. Well, Arbuz, deck, and myself since we are in a chat with Psy and we hear the sound first etc. If we aren't sure on something we'll ship it to the rest of our team and see if the track is going the right way or not.

Moment of Solace one of the tracks on Psy's sondcloud... actually I think he has all of the sound track on there? All of the ones except for the track made by Nubbinownz (yes, THAT nubbinownz, yes.) and we have a track by Aoiichisan. I forget which track Aoiichisand did though.

Like what you said, true it was long ago, i'm amazed you put so much effort into the research
So is that the time when the game is set in ? How do the common people in Athlanka react to new technology, do they call it magic ?

Yeah, the first compound lenses were worth tens of thousands.

The game year is 628, PFF the webcomic is in 715 in the worlds' time. Atlathka will get new innovations and things quicker than most cities as a trade hub of the world and Kaldea also is a trade hub but they (at the point of the game) are just getting established an in a massive boom of trade and money. Part of the conflict between Atlathka and Kaldea tbh.

Atlathkans will only react to technology that's magical in nature as magic. Nothing in the world is so far advanced that it would be like "whoa! Are you from the gods!?" People will typically assume something is mechanical in nature. Anything they can't explain or dumbfounded by would probably be like "Huh... is that magical?" And it probably is haha. Magic can be used as an extremely efficient and a "ahead of the times power source." In the webcomic you see Hami's arm and a guys' reaction to it for example, Nameless' has a pretty muted reaction to it as well.

Though the game is years before the webcomic, so examples of that level of magically driven technology are very rare. Ohmes' telescope is one of a kind in the world (and was at risk of a fire in the early days of the Ohmish civil wars before the current detente started).

So yeah people are pretty up with it. You'd need to leave cities and even villages and fine like... nomadic tribes or isolated people who are far away from the rest of the world and its state to have people think that mechanical contraptions without magic, are seen as magic.

Cool, so there is more history to this game. I always wondered if technology would ever grow stronger than magic in PFF.

Well according to the game and comic
i think it can usually affect ship's delivery (i bet valaska did a search on this) and also the city's trading system.
Not even sure if it's totally safe to send money to ancient banks back then :sneaky:

Magic fuels technology in our setting, there aren't any real "fire spells" and such really. So they are often just one in the same! There are Spell Lock and Magelock guns for instance. Magic is used in a replacement for the firing primer and propellant in them.

Conflict between cities, then there are political "families" rivaling each other, do they affect the city's goverment ? How the common people deal with it
Sort of like how we do now haha. As long as the fighting isn't at your doorstep you live your life as normal as you can. But for sure they affect the government and governance of the cities, Atlathka is extremely vested in annexing Kaldea at this point in the timeline and it would be the subject of most of their gatherings and the considerations of possible future action would be pervasive in other meetings as well.

Kaldea is no different as you will find in our latest quest. Even while talking about unrelated matters at hand the conversation will usually devolve into bickering between opposite ideals in how to address the looming Atlathkan threat. There are people in Kaldea who want to go into active warfare and others who want to cede the city to Atlathka in a peaceful process.

Well according to the game and comic

Atlathka is suffering most from this at the moment and is a large part of what started the war. Kaldea were charging tariffs on EVERY SINGLE VESSEL passing through the Kaldea Rock Channel, which is a pretty narrow passage. Ships that haven't paid tariffs aren't turned away... but tend (with an alarming 100% of the time reliability) to get attacked by pirates.

Currently, Kaldea is still letting ships through to Atlathka so long as they aren't carrying arms, armour, or magical implements that could be used for warfare... so they are watching for siege equipment and such. Atlathka is blockading land access though which makes up a TON of Kaldea's trade, Kaldea is the first land access to the Western Advance and the Broken Frontier range, all the villages and small towns on the coast etc. Atlathka hasn't been able to control the passage north as well as the western advance (which actually heads eastwards from Kaldea!)

Banks are very secure institutions back then. They are well guarded and their reputation was completely reliant on how they treated their patrons... if a bank was screwing people over, people wouldn't use it. So they were exceptional institutions in the real world and VERY secure.

The Kaldean bank is managed by its own institution that keeps out of the senate through the mercantile coalition and the aristocracy have ties to it.

They handle investments, loans, lines of credit and such. A lot of trade in the city is handled with banknotes between the large merchant houses. There are also forms of scrip in the city which have little to no monetary value but have a trade value and the bank will accept script as well as almost a form of stocks trading.
  • Bank Notes are official notes plated by the bank and filled out at the bank with the recipient's name. The signator will go to the bank and request a note in order to transfer credit from one account owner to another, the signator then takes the note to the recipient who signs it and takes the note back to the bank to complete it. Representatives of a person estate may also handle the note and complete the transfer.
  • Scrip is often used by companies to pay their employees without having the money on hand, which they will use to purchase items from company merchants... the fishermen in Kaldea have the largest scrip trade in the city for instance. The fishery workers union will trade their scrip for food, sundries, fishing tackle, and even some items they will purchase wholesale from retailers. Pesh deals with them and sells C grade flour to the fishers union, who then trade that in scrip. This allows employers to cut employee pay and also creates this atmosphere of the company pervading every part of someones' life. Banks will buy some of this scrip and then sit on it or trade and then trade it out when it raises back to the fishers union or to private investors interested in trading some of this scrip when it is more valuable so they can buy fish or other bits and then sell those solid goods at a profit.
The bank also records and keeps track of the value of goods and resources in the city, posting updating and posting the going market rate for goods. This vital service means the bank has a lot of power in the city in general.

Impressive, so that's part of how they manage their money in the game
Will our main character have his own bank account too ?
