So what exactly does it mean by this game is "onhold", are there some programming or animation difficulties? Or maybe some life difficulties? Whatever the reason I'm interested to know why this is on hold

There was a second lawsuit that caused the Patreon page to be under review. The lawsuit is over, Team Towerfag won but needs to wait until lazy Patreon staff removes the under review status on Patreon.

They worked on the game nonstop but weren't able to release new build cuz lawsuit would have whopped their butts. So the only thing who was on hold is the ability to upload the builds, working progress wasn't affected.

It says v0.16 preorder so you will get the same build when it's available on Patreon again. Preorder cuz the lawsuit is won but a few things are still on the table so the devs have to wait a little bit.
