You don't pick reigns. you aid them to proseper or leave to their doom. Which is weird because you have to help a princess to raise her affection BUT she then have to loose the war so you can rescue her.
To continue with Kobold you need to raise both lust and love at 2 or 3 then talk to her when it's raining during night time at the campfire so you can continue her questline. Yeah is stupid and unless you know it from others you'll never figure it out.
Many stuff like this should be reworked because it makes no sense at all: like stealing panties to unlock random alt costumes. And not even costumes for the princess you stole from but RANDOM. good luck obtaining the one you want.
That's how it used to be. I forget where the game's fleshed-out spoiler-wiki is, but...fuck it, I'll explain a few things.
REIGNS can actually be left intact. If you don't use the peace cheat this is a huge pain in the ass, but you can still pull it off. After completing a few quests or fighting on their side in a few battles, you earn enough Affinity to visit their Princess in person. From there you can romance her in a series of quests or interactions. You can max out her Affection even if there aren't five quests by giving her Princess Gift items, I think. Either way, once her affection is high enough, you can sneak into her castle at night and do a few things: change her outfit by swapping out her regular dress for an outfit in your inventory (that she can wear), do something to her panties (steal them or modify them with special items), or wake her up for some baby-makin'. If you actually do manage to knock her up, your Progeny will eventually get old enough to take over in their mother's place and you can elope with the Princess: her Reign is intact, but she's in your party now.
ROUTES are all mutually exclusive. You start one, and you're locked out of the others. They're not always very straightforward, and I think...only four are actually completed at the moment. Kobold's, Dog's, Dragon I's, and Dragon II's.
COMPANION QUESTS are just dependent on the Princess being in the player's party. You speak to them at your camp at night when certain conditions are met, and you make progress towards fully romancing them. I dunno if they have sex with you if you've romanced them while they were on the throne, but for Kobold Princess at least you need to raise her LOVE stat high enough and then talk to her (1) on any night, (2) when it's raining at night, (3) on any night, (4) after retrieving something from her ruined castle, and (5) on any night again. After you've completed all of a Princess's companion/campfire quests, speaking to them means you'll be having sex with them that night. How many times depends on your Endurance stat, and/or her Love and/or Lust stats. I'm not entirely sure about which of those are important past Endurance, and the positions are totally random. You don't need Lust...at all, I don't think, unless you want to see battle-rape, stick her in the brothel, make her walk around naked (without the Queen's New Clothes outfit), or...some other stuff, I think?
How do you pick a reign or anything? I kept the Kobold Princess with me and she has done nothing past like 2 talk events. This game needs some directions on how to play it somewhere.
Im pretty sure my current playthrough is a wash cause i have no bloody clue what im doing or suppose to do besides grind Knight Inc quests lol
The goal is to either unlock the full gallery, complete the route or routes that you're interested in, or just explore the content that's new to you. Like finding secrets or rare weapons or exploring new areas. Those daily missions are good for earning swirls (currency) without cheating, raising Affinity with reigns by helping them out, and...I think certain missions are important for diplomacy and unlocking some stuff. I don't have everything memorized.
