I think maybe it's a disorder with the brain. It needs to be babied instead of problem solving and going through all the available options.
If you press ESC or right click the mouse, in the menu options are a list of quests. One of the quests was to ask the princess about her curse? Then you get the research room key. From that key you have a bunch of options or things to research outside of the talents in the menu. Would you look at that it's right there. It lists it in crafting menu. Then you go to the workshop and build it. Everybody else got the key to the tower from the chickens and thought hmm what's in the cellar. I have no torches, I am gonna go there next after being told where to sleep and getting the torches from the chest. You should've cleared the dungeon immediately after returning from your companions in the blizzard correct? How hard is it.
The quests are locked on what you cannot do. The research is locked on what you cannot do. You are constrained by a lack of desire points.
The only error is how do you more. You cannot in the current version.
One of the quests isn't locked, her inspection. You cannot do.
C key always fails, arrow under A doesn't move forward when pressing A, but W,S,D keys don't fail. any other key does fail.
is their a bug with the C key, or is it supposed to be something else?

if it fails than, what command is C supposed to be to be succesfull in that minigame?
I will say, with the original version of the game, the control mapping was buggy as hell, every time I would remap the controls and it wouldn't work exactly the way I mapped them, and every time I closed the game the next time I played I would have to remap them, it never saved the mapping properly. Soooo... my guess is the dev doesn't have a great understanding of how to code the controls.

No bugs here for me but somehow the developer is making the grind even worse by adding a lot of unnecessary mechanics and busywork compared to the previous game instead of fixing it.

Maybe check the questlog? It's a thought. Talk to princess about her curse? It opens the research room, and from there is a recipe. Why are you going nest x3? Once on entry, then after getting torches, after sleeping in your room in the tower. Then again once you get the lever recipe, at the same time if you can put in the talent points, as you get the bathtub recipe
