So, you do not need to keep the relationship with him high to have him around and get some stuff.
If you look at Zorlun's last "appetiser", the language used suggests that if you get the dinner (Anthony around), there will still be some stuff with Anthony and/or others, but at the same time, it will still be possible to get him out of the picture.
About Marc being put off, that depends from the choices you did before.
If you went for the "dream" path, then yes, he behave in that way. If you did not chose that...
