Sounds like you are feeling actually jealous of making five grand in Patreon per month. Just to cheer you up I can tell you with reasonable amount of certainty that most of these "make few grands with shitty game"-Patreon accounts are legit ways to launder money. The sums are small enough to mostly fly under the radar of the banking regulations against money laundering and too big to warrant income of such magnitude for over ten years when there has been zero updates in years for the game. Criminals are quite inventive when it comes to making some income seem legal.
