as someone who has had the
great displeasure of looking into the files of this game and how sprites are handled,
i applaud your dedication
for anyone wondering how much of a
nightmare any sprite edit is, here's what navigating to the amy clothes rip animations for the grounder looks like:
every single animation for
every single character is:
a list of seperate images
all in
seperate folders
sorted per level,
sorted per enemy,
sorted per character...
PER INDIVIDUAL ANIMATION
***FRAME BY FRAME***
every time you want to edit *one animation*
you need to edit like *40 images to match*
and GOD SAVE YOU if you need to change an inherent feature of any given character
i took every single amy asset from the data the *total count of files* (any image listed under an "amy folder" [literally every in game amy sprite {this doesnt count loading screens or any other asset}])

you will need to edit *every single image* in those folders to match the style of any potential character edit
there's no "modders tool" as far as i'm aware,
no "oh here's a version that's just the grounder you can overlay on top of any given character"
it's just the whole animation, frame by frame, no layers,
*nothing* go pixel by pixel idiot
the fact that *anyone* makes ***any edit*** to *****any aspect of this game***** is a thing to be praised, because it's a nightmare mod of a mod of a mod of an open source port of an arcade game from the 90s
