Reviewed on the Final version of it.
Note : Keep in mind that I only play the good route and only achieves Irito's Ending at the time I'm reviewing this.
Story : Excellent
This is the story about an Alvs called Julius who once was a human seek a power in Pandemonium which is basically hell. Using his unique ability called "Pronant", he capable to control other people (basically hypnotism) and use it to control the four sisters. The problem is... Once he cast "Pronant", he can't relinquish it and not only that... He has low life span as well due to Alvs generally weaker than human. The main cause is... A demon lord that also the main source of "Pronant" power.
You know where this is going right?
However aside from that, each character is quite memorable and the interaction between them is also lively, not only that... They also have a character development, especially for Julius who is initially a jerk, but become a better person though quite a tsundere(?) until the very end (at least on the good route).
This is one of the strong part of this game. There's still a lot to discover though I'm that weird guy who came to play this game for gameplay lol and quite reluctant to play as bad guy.
Oh don't forget that you can also date the sisters if you don't do anything bad to them, trust me it's worth it.
Gameplay : Great
The gameplay is your typical RPG game, but have some twist on it. Here's some :
Introducing a "Field Mod" where you can see what kind of element is on play in that turn. For example, when Water "field" is activated, you water-based skill will deal significant amount of damage and this also apply to the enemy.
Alongside for that, there's also "refining" mechanic which if you use skill multiple times, your skill count will increases which allow you to use that skill multiple time in one session. Not only that, your equipment also get "refined" if you keep using it for prolonged amount of time.
It should be noted that mana point acts like a second health bar in some cases, sure it's still being used for skill, but mostly for things about healing and unique skills.
Aside from battle itself, You can collect materials, synth item, getting treasures, grind, interacting with your party member at inn.
There's also mechanic that incentivize you to stay longer in dungeon to gain better reward such as getting XP and Gold boost as well as post-exploration reward to unlock new skills.
TL;DR : Your typical RPG, but expanded in an unique way.
Art : Good
The artstyle is quite unique on this game. There's some awkward character art that kinda threw me off, but the art is good overall. I especially adore Julius's standing picture and when in battle (You would know it after completing it once, or by browsing this forum I guess).
Music : A Fine Choice
The music selection of this game is really good. Some of them I do recognize because I did visited some website in the past. It compliment quite well in most area and I also liked that music also get incooperated as an important tool for story in this game too.
Damn it, Irito's music box music is still lingering after finishing this game.
Oh and the date music... That's one of my favorite music.
Bug : Some ants
Even the final version have some bug, like calling wrong picture in a date (While dating Julie, somehow Irito's there lmao, cannot escape her I guess...), some text have incomplete command to call character's name, etc. Well that sometimes happen I guess...
Overall : A great (almost ordinary) game
Well... for an H-game, it definitely feels like playing ordinary game due to lack of H-related stuff if you played the good route. Different story if you choose the bad guy though... But if you came for the story and character as a JRPG, I recommend this to you. If you came for H-stuff, this is probably not a game for you...
