No, they mesh perfectly fine. The issue here was the story just needed more time to playout. The dev wanted to make a quick game, but the story isn't simple enough for that. We sort of ended on a cliffhanger and the final scene was "The end...for now" so perhaps this was basically an extended prologue for the next game.

Maybe so, I think it will depend on the importance the dev attaches to the financial level obtained and this reasoning can be deduced by reading the developer's notes in the OP (he considered it as a "stepping stone").

This project, if developed with adequate timing rich in content for each update, would certainly have been a success, but in this way it leaves doubts especially on the way this dev works and for this reason, I imagine, it has not achieved the desired success.
