VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Queen Trainer [v1.05] [AKAMAN / AKABUR]

I've been waiting for this ever since it was announced.

When it released, I read the votes here, the disappointment, etc. And it got me cold. I didn't want to even play it anymore. I thought to myself, it can't be this bad right? Akabur KNOWS we all hate his chibi shit. Akabur REMADE Princess Trainer exactly because of this, with loads of actual CG.

Then I forgot about it. Now a year or so after release, I wanted to see for myself. And Jesus shit.

It's horrible. It's his worse game to date. Infinite grind, haven't seen an actual CG in a one hour of gameplay, no way to track your stats, what you have to do etc...

I just couldn't. I don't even want to get a full save to see what I might've missed.

I don't understand. Akabur knows. He knows what we are expecting of him, and... time and time again, he just shits the bed. (SC34 I'm looking at you)

It's such a waste of a good artist man... Someone should just make a game, and commision him to do the CG. Cos clearly, he's lost his touch.

I can't say I'm happy about the ratio of content to time investment here. Everything else is good (including the art that actually exists), but I'm not sure why Akabur is so averse to creating art/sex scenes. Honestly, I think it's the main problem holding him back from making really great games.

In my opinion, the original Princess Trainer was fine for it's time and contributed a lot to the history of corruption games, but I also believe people's expectations have increased a lot over the past decade. I mean, we were still working with dress-up flash games back then!

At this point, I think Akabur is "too big to fail", the only way to get him to focus more on having a reasonable amount of art would be for his supporters to speak up together. If not, I expect more of the same.

It's hard to give this game a high rating since it seems like there is not a ton of sex scenes. I mean the primary reason to play a porn game is for the art. Akabur still makes great art but there is not very much of it. Not only that, it is highly gated behind repeated actions. I'm not sure whether there is more art later, but it’s not clear how to get to it. The art is good but sparce and to get to it just through repeated actions.

Finally, Akabur returned, I honestly expected more from this game, for example, art, animations, but it's also quite interesting, finally, the continuation of the legendary Akabur series with the princess and other famous characters, I almost didn't understand why we train jasmine, if it only depends on our choice of cut scenes or I made the wrong choices and because of this, she just gets married, I thought there would be a denouement with her, but it's quite interesting to see old characters like Iris.
There are a lot of different characters and their stories, as well as power pumping, as from the first part, but of course it's not enough art, but it's still interesting to watch the chibi cut scenes
I also liked the trade and the garden.
Hopefully akabur will come back with a more powerful project.

Akabur... YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE! You WERE one of the best game makers of the adult world. Why? JUST WHY? You spend 3.5 years for this? I am so disappointed. I was checking your patreon for years, every monday for your work updates. And here is your game, lacks h scenes and grindy. Don't get me wrong fellas, these type of games are always grindy but we grind for the h scenes and the story. TO GOON. But unfortunately this game is just a normal visual novel with little h scenes. I hope your next game will be better Akabur but i guess i lost my hype and i am not even little excited for your new game thanks to this "game".

After several years of waiting, the game is finally out… and it’s a disappointment. After more than 6 hours of gameplay, I only got about fifteen images to sink my teeth into, but when it comes to farming, I had more than enough. In the end, if you enjoy farming for a meager reward, this game is for you. Otherwise, just collect the artwork so you don’t waste your time for nothing.

Genuine Slop. Porn is lacking, gameplay is pretty much the same as all other trainer games, but it has the twist of multiple paths...and no actual corruption. Yay I definitely wanted to grind through this bland game MULTIPLE TIMES to see one playthroughs worth of its porn. Spend your time elsewhere if you want to spank it, spend your time elsewhere if you want to play a game.

The game is grindy as fuck and offers too little reward for so much effort. Even if the game had no grinding at all the few sexual content there is also not that good to be worth the time invested.

The has so many mechanics that aren't fun and only serve to waste time and create the illusion of content. The annoyances include: cleaning the garden, working in the garden for points, harvesting crops, exploring the city, patrolling as a guard, tutoring Hornelia, training your strength, amongst others I might be forgetting at the moment.

All of this while also needing to use gold to progress story events. Gold that is usually only earned regularly by advising Jasmine or working as a guard. All other forms of money making require you to progress other quests and storylines such as the brothel, the tavern and the garden to sell the crops you harvest. The crops that take a long time to grow. The same crops that are not available at all during winter.

Yes, I said winter, because this game also has a time system, with a calendar and everything. A calendar that you have to pay money to acquire. I quickly got tired of all this nonsense and just gave myself 30,000 gold via console commands, so I didn't suffer through money problems for the rest of the game. But even with that problem away, the game still has too much padding, too many things that must keep doing just to get what, some wonky animations of chibi characters fucking? Are you for real?

The game has so many female characters and yet the number of actual sex CG's can be counted with two hands and still have fingers remaining. The only praiseworthy things about the game are its art, which a lot of it like character sprites and background being recycled from previous Akabur projects, the funny writing, and the presentation with things like the UI, game icons, music and sound effects. The game itself is a pretty immersive experience, I just wish the experience itself was enjoyable.

It really is a fucking wonder how this game managed to have so few sex scenes after over 3 years of development.

Just a worse version of Princess Trainer, which is wild because this is made by the same guy.

The Genie barely gets any action himself, and when he does theres either no art at all, or its a single frame (sometimes not even drawn by Akabur). Theres a big lack of art compared to his previous games.

The game play loop is a big departure from his previous titles. That wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, except this feels very grindy with much less reward.

The story is all over the place. Theres five(?) different stories going on, and they don't connect to each other at all, and none of them feel very fulfilling.

Overall very disappointing. Just go play Princess Trainer instead.

This is a tricky review to write, as I can't decide if I should give it 3, or 4 stars.
    Let's pretend it 3.5 stars.

Akabur's games have always been a treat and a bit unique to the smut game scene. A mix of sex, nostalgia and crude, witty dialogue, all wrapped in great art.

Queen Trainer is in some ways his largest project to date, it's also the most game-like project in his portfolio. While somewhat impressive, this is also it's biggest issue.
It is a porn game, with lots of gameplay but not enough porn.

If you play this for fun, and not to fap, then Queen Trainer can be a ton of fun. Akabur's as witty as ever, and assuming you share his sense of humor, the writing/story is great.

But if you play to get off, then the game just turns into a massive grind with very little reward for that grind.
A lot of scenes are text only (merely descriptive), some is done with Akabur's goto chibi art, and a fairly small part consists of actual CGs.

My summary of the game would be that it's a very ambitious project that falls short as a porn game but is a step up as a normal game.

In the future, a Gold edition with more CGs could allow Queen Trainer to reach its full potential.

    Akabur, what happened to you?

Once upon a time, in a distant past, I was a huge supporter and stand for Akabur. I stood by him when he was just a small name on HentaiUnited, I became one of his first Patreon supporters, I modded for his forums, and was a very active member of his Discord. Then his discord got super toxic, with mods who hated everyone who was not Akabur or a mod themself. Long story short, I stopped supporting his work financially and left his community.

However I still liked his artwork, very Disney inspired, and I knew this Queen Trainer was eventually to be a thing. (it had been in the works for years by the time I left after all)

And lo what do I see but the very game itself released! It felt weird not having it directly from the man himself, but I was compelled to check out what should have been a magnum opus for Akabur. And... it was not?

The artwork? Still got. The story? Same Akabur jokes as usual. The gameplay? Really really weird pivot. Unlike in past titles where you played in a kind of linear path with branching side content, this one is more like a seasonal loop like Stardew Valley; event calendar included. It was a really strange feeling, in fact, it felt a bit patched together. Many ideas connecting, but, not cohesively. This change really killed the vibe for me. It was no Princess Trainer or Witch Trainer, both of which I feel like were his best works, and I had a little trouble figuring out why.

But I think I got it. Instead of multiple playthroughs of the entire game, now, you play through the same game over and over receiving only a pittance of new content each run. It's almost like Akabur somehow figures out how to make a full game, feel like a 0.1 version that adds a .1 to the end every time you unlock something new. It is very odd, impressive, but odd.

Because of this, the vibe is killed, my boner is limp, as I'm stuck trying to plan out days correctly to earn new content or be forced to wait a full in-game year to come back to that seasonal event. There's the gold grind, the strength grind, the storefront side quest, and it all feels distracting from the main thing we all wanted. More sexy Disney princesses getting dicked down by huge Genie schlong, and even then, that concept, is reused on a premiss that this is a different timeline from the Princess Trainer one. You are quite literally being tasked, once again, with training a bitchy Jasmine to be Jaffar's cocksleeve. Boooring!

When Priness Trainer ended, it felt like we were about to go underground with criminals. You'd have your sexy sidekick and total wife material Iris helping you undermine Jaffar's reign, going on gorilla tactics themed missions, working along with a darker version of Aladdin, that would have been so cool! But instead, we get a recycled idea with a splash of new color. Very sad.

But hey, at least Atamansha is hot, right? Sexy Iris MILF. Wait, what do you mean we can't bone her? What!?

    Why? OG Akabur, why?
The game is a collab of several artists. Art top like previous Akabur games. Sound etc. are ok.

But this is not really a game, it feels souless. Not as funny as the previous games, no real gameplay which is sad.

Akabur's art style with Akabur's writing style, great as always. The humor was good and there was the right amount of it.

The progression with the titular girl is done right—you do get progression, but this time it doesn’t start from the very basics, which makes it feel like a sequel to PT without actually being one. And, as usual, you have side girls, but with marriage this time.

Making money didn't feel like a grind to me since there was always something new happening— events progressing and so on. And By the time you stop seeing new content, you’ve already unlocked another, better way to make money.

How do other Ren’Py games try to make their games feel like actual games? Scuffed, basic, turn-based Ren’Py combat. Not that I don't enjoy some turn-based games in the non-cultured gaming world, but Ren’Py combat is always so bland and boring in every game. Meanwhile, Akabur managed to make this game feel gamey through good amount of world events— there was always something going on, something to do every in-game day, without any combat at all, which I consider an achievement in itself.

I think this guy just does everything right, and I can't wait for the next game.

This game is not at all what one would expect. I didn't follow the developer that closely because I didn't particularly like his last star channel game, but after 3 years of work to put out a game like this? Disappointment.

This is definitely the worst of Akabur's large game releases, but if you're really desperate for another game by him, it might be worth your time.

Despite the negative reviews, I was really hopeful that I'd still enjoy the game, since it seemed possible that many of the game's negative points wouldn't bother me much (My favorite Akabur game was Witch Trainer, which had very few CG's and a lot of repetitive content, so I thought this might be disliked for similar reasons).

I personally disliked Star Channel 34 quite a bit (I thought the game was an indecisive mess that felt directionless and incapable of committing to any consistent plot or mechanics), but I have to admit that I still largely prefer it to this game.
Although the quality and direction of this game are definitely more consistent than Star Channel 34, I would say that the highlights of Star Channel 34 are infinitely more interesting than any of the content in this game.

Overall, the game just felt very bland and shallow, likely in part due to the fact that it focuses on many girls, rather than a few (Which is clearly to it's detriment, in my opinion, as you never delve deep into any of the girls, and you never get that feeling of gradual, consistent progress/training... It never really feels like you're truly corrupting the girls, it just feels like you're unlocking short, disconnected scenes involving them).
Apart from the fact that I personally didn't enjoy several of the fetishes that the game tends to focus on (Cuck shit, implied underage/ageplay content, etc... The entire end game is focused on romancing/marrying all of the girls, which doesn't appeal to me at all, and much of the game's content is connected to or locked behind that), a lot of the game just felt a lot more tame/vanilla than I was used to in Akabur games (There is still some degrading/crueler content in the game, but a lot of the time, it tends to just feel like you're trying to befriend/romance the female characters, rather than "train" them).

If I were to rank my favorite Akabur games in order, they would be: Witch Trainer, Princess Trainer, and Mating Season (Mating Season was a short side game of his that he'd worked on in between main games, but I really liked it for what it was).
Star Channel 34 and this game both fall far behind all of those, as far as I'm concerned.

    TL;DR:
Just play/replay Princess Trainer... Queen Trainer is just a worse version of that game in every single way.

A good game by Akabur, though not as good as Witch Trainer, which I consider a classic. The corruption part is more straightforward but still satisfying. The art is nice, as always, and the game is enjoyable overall.

I'm not quite done with the game, but I do understand why people are disappointed. There are so many things to do, but no depth to anything. The writing is on par with previous outings and the main drawings are as good as always, but playing this game feels like going to a swimming pool only to find out the water is ankle deep.

I had hoped for something like Witch Trainer, but there are too many characters to really connect with any of them, and not nearly enough drawings, though that is to be expected from an Akaman/bur game.

In the end, in a world where "Four elements trainer" and "Witch Trainer: Silver" exists it feels like Aka hasn't evolved with the times, and has made something that would have been good or even great 10 years ago, but now is merely okay.

Queen Trainer is a solid game that offers a variety of side content, and the option to build a harem is absolutely brilliant. The writing is definitely the highlight—top-tier stuff. I especially love the clever meta-comedy, like the reference to Lily Phillips sleeping with 101 men in one day. That was an awesome nod to real-world events and a perfect example of Akabur’s signature style. When it comes to the writing, it's a 10/10—Akabur hasn't lost his touch.

As for the gameplay, I'm not sure what people were expecting, but I think it’s some of the smoothest gameplay I've seen in any adult game. The grind is rewarding, and honestly, just read the dialogues and don’t be lazy. The grinding is mostly filled with original and great dialogues. It only gets repetitive when you’re nearing the end, but by then, the rewards are more than worth it. I see no real problem with it.

One thing I think people aren't talking about enough is that the grind here is handled way better than in most games. The grind in Queen Trainer is smooth, with at most 3 clicks per action. I've played other games where you have to click 15 times just to leave the apartment, go to a café, work, then repeat the same process. I don’t know why people aren’t complaining about that in those games, but I think the grind here is well-managed.

Now, onto the main course: the explicit content. It’s fun, no doubt, but I understand why some people might be disappointed. Despite my overall love for the game, I feel that while it would be asking a lot to add full animations, at least adding chibis for all interactions would’ve made a huge difference. For example, Hornelia’s training was fun to read, but having nothing but a blank screen can be a bit off-putting. A simple chibi or visual cue would help with immersion.

That said, this game is a classic. I want to encourage people to give it another chance. It’s super immersive, fun to play, and full of lovely events, side characters, and fantastic writing.

Still an excellent game by Akabur. It suffers from more than a few problems still, so I hope these can be corrected in later games.

First of all, the start is very slow pace, but that's standard in Akabur games. However, it can be difficult to know what you want to do, with so many options (and all side quests available from the start). Maybe an indicator on where to start would have made things easier, even if it meant blocking a few options at the beginning.

There's not that much art scenes (I mean full window art) so it feels like a regression. Like all Akabur's games, I've 100%ed it, and for completionnists, this game takes a lot more time than it should.
You actually have to go back and re-do everything if you want to get all achievements on 1 save. Which also means if you want Jasmine as a wife and get the achievements in order, you will get the Guts ending last, and will have to re-do the whole Trust thing later on, which is slow.

I've also noticed there's no way to generate passive income, as the tutoring payout it very slow and all other ways to get money are repetitive and feel like clicker games. The whole random encounter thing is badly managed, as you can get the same encounter multiple times before getting the one you want. And the garden side-quest just takes too many clicks. I'd rather have less time spent in the hub, and maybe the ability to choose which encounter I want to have (which is thankfully possible enough in the city walk option).

Also the calendar events are not evident enough. I shouldn't have to manually check every other day for when the next even is, possibly missing it and having to wait a whole year.

However, these are more completionnists problems, so it shouldn't hinder the base experience.

The game still deserves all of its stars, mostly by being an Akabur game, and secondly because it introduces new mechanics that will hopefully be better implemented in later entries.

Very good, starts slow but there is a lot of content, and "chibi" animations are of good quality. Better than in his previous games. There are more mini games, more to do in this one. Not for you if you want a VN on rails.
