I would imagine perhaps with things like this...there is always six of one and half a dozen other truths and omissions.Interesting how later at the park Jake says none of that. When Allie says she was ignored and left alone, he admits he left her to run the family, work, and marriage all on her. He doesn't say anything about her not being there.
Story consistency issue or change of heart?
The park conversation (on the reconciliatory path) is a lot more relaxed and casual, so perhaps without tempers flaring we get to see a more 'realistic' story of what happened?
(and maybe some dialogue that needs cleaning up also heh)
